I just went back and read your first posts on this forum. I am sorry you have been hurt by someone in the WT organization. I am inactive because my family has been dealt something very unjust. I have not been able to tell all the details either as of yet.
I also feel that some are quick to jump on ideas that conflict with their own, even though they say all are welcome on this forum. In addition, I jumped on someone new to this forum because of what he posted that brought back the memory of the attack on my family.
All in all, we must use our own brains and do our own research. This forum is not set up as a place to worship, but is basically a place to vent and discuss. I have learned alot here about the things that happened to others in the WT organization. The hurts run so deep for many.
I still have not let it destroy my faith in a creator. I no longer feel assured that I know what to believe, however.
I have vented on this forum because I needed to and the readers were kind enough to listen.
I wish to listen to what you have to say, if you care to share more with us.

Im sorry, but Im not alone in this matter. Others feel as if she has been "attacked" and I referred to it as ripping a new A-hole. Same diff to me. If you read the whole thread, and checked her first whole 3 posts, I dont think she should have had this kind of reaction. Never once have I ever posted on these threads, due to the arguements that come about. But I would like people that come here, and feel like they are welcome, like I was! And they shouldnt get scared off on their 4th post! She can get that nonsense from the elders!

I just got home from work and had to see if Annie came back to this thread.
I feel that if Annie is sincerely Annie........she would have come back to see comments. Obviously in earlier posts he/she/it said she had been lurking for several months, so she would come to realize the reason for some of the responses. (just looked and Annie posts are a month apart from each other)
For the first time ever..........when I read her story I realized praying to God/Allah/a totem pole/ had nothing to do with the fact that her purse went unnoticed by passersby at the Wal-Mart parking lot.
Hence, my comment
hmmm...........
wonder why Jehovah protected your purse?
When I was disfellowshipped I left my wallet at a carwash with a considerable amount of money in it and it was turned into the police.
When I was reinstated......my car......purse with alot of valuables in it.........all my photos, scrapbooks, awards....baby books....was stolen and burned.
Annies comment on another thread.
Jgnat, I appreciate how you would like to help me through this. I'm not sure I can be helped at this time, because even this morning I almost decided to go to the Hall. When I was active I was either studying to go on one of my Bible Studies or I was studying for a meeting or just studying the Bible for myself. I remember walking up the sidewalk to an assembly of over 18,000.. The joy I felt at that time.. I actually turned to a sister walking beside me and I quoted Pslams...I was GLAD when they said to me, let us go up to the house of the Lord. I loved Jehovah sooo much, and I still love and worship him. It isn't Jehovah's fault that people act like they do. It isn't his fault that I quit going to the Hall.
Well now I'm crying so I'll stop here.
Thanks again gang. I love all of youIt's amazing what one can learn about ourselves and each other by the comments posted about Annies experiance.
Matthew 6 WEB
1 "Be careful that you don't do your charitable giving before men, to be seen by them, or else you have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.2 Therefore when you do merciful deeds, don't sound a trumpet before yourself, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may get glory from men. Most certainly I tell you, they have received their reward.3 But when you do merciful deeds, don't let your left hand know what your right hand does,4 so that your merciful deeds may be in secret, then your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.5 "When you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites, for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Most certainly, I tell you, they have received their reward.6 But you, when you pray, enter into your inner chamber, and having shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.7 In praying, don't use vain repetitions, as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard for their much speaking.8 Therefore don't be like them, for your Father knows what things you need, before you ask him.9 Pray like this:'Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.10 Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth.11 Give us today our daily bread.12 Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors.13 Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.'14 "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.15 But if you don't forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.16 "Moreover when you fast, don't be like the hypocrites, with sad faces. For they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen by men to be fasting. Most certainly I tell you, they have received their reward.17 But you, when you fast, anoint your head, and wash your face;18 so that you are not seen by men to be fasting, but by your Father who is in secret, and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.19 "Don't lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal;20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consume, and where thieves don't break through and steal;21 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.22 "The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light.23 But if your eye is evil, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!24 "No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other; or else he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You can't serve both God and Mammon.25 Therefore, I tell you, don't be anxious for your life: what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Isn't life more than food, and the body more than clothing?26 See the birds of the sky, that they don't sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren't you of much more value than they?27 "Which of you, by being anxious, can add one moment to his lifespan?28 Why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They don't toil, neither do they spin,29 yet I tell you that even Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like one of these.30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today exists, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, won't he much more clothe you, you of little faith?31 "Therefore don't be anxious, saying,'What will we eat?','What will we drink?' or,'With what will we be clothed?'32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.33 But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well.34 Therefore don't be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day's own evil is sufficient. Maybe Jehovah did protect Annies purse as she has come online and praised his name. That is certainly good advertisement for $237 or whatever the amount was.
I know I sound cynical......but I am learning that what we have been taught has probably been intrepreted incorrectly.

God had nothing to do with it. You were at the mercy of the world, and the world looked out for you...get over the Jehovah factor. Happens all the time.

I re-read this thread. I see that there were a couple of posts that used the word "stupid" so maybe that's what constituted an 'attack' and 'ripping a new one' which denotes something far more severe to my mind - but then it's not a phrase I use a lot.
So, with all sincerity, maybe I am missing something here. I, for one, did not see this thread as celebrating a found item, so much as praising Jehovah for answering a prayer. I thought most of the answers were quite humorous and harmless.
Of course the larger question (and it is an important question - maybe an new thread), is how to treat newbies, especially those in the shadowland that occurs inbetween a small doubt and a big decision.
I really don't like incurring the wrath of ladies like Butt and WhyIam - I sense that they could seriously 'rip me a new one' with one arm tied behind their backs.
BTW.................has anyone seen my purse?

Excuse me? I see no vengeful anger, nor exposing you in a liable manner. IMO - Butt, tried to make a unfamiliar individual welcome. Remembering her first days of embarking on this website, as do I - ( hence the name "Why am I here?" ) we felt that some of the comments were harsh.
In "JW Land" Apostates are looked as ungodly/wretched person(s). Now I wouldn't want to make a bad impression by "saying" any tense remark of her faith. Trying to be politically correct or impartial to certain subjects tends to be difficult.
I remember going to a Aposta-fest not too long ago, where they burned the WT. Did I mind? Not really, but someone else did. It bothered me that no one else saw the confusion, the disgust in this persons eyes. I never would do such a thing, but that's my choice. However, I do respect my surroundings, and those in it. This person and I talked about it, I made them see that some don't view the "WT" as a message from god anymore - plus, some have more anger to hold on to than others. Hopefully, they understood not to take the actions of these individuals with out hearing their story. Always 2 sides!
I am not against you, my reason for that is because I don't know you. My personal view of you maybe wrong, of how you truly are in person - as my opinion stands I find you to be somewhat catty. As you may think I am a B!tch? I hope I am wrong.
Simple fact of making a new person welcome, that's all.

See what I mean?
OK, I'm now officially hurt by being called "catty" and having words like B****h put in my mouth. I do not use labels and don't like them being used on me.
But, I suggest that we return this thread now. You've made your point, and mine.

I think what happens is that we forget there is a real person that we are responding to. Being many of us have just got out of the JW cult, we see with anger the mythological god Jehovah, and want to expose him so much because we were hurt by this myth, we forget that we are also responding to a person with feelings. To which I would like to say I'm sorry Annie, for my past post, they were more a knee jerk reaction to a painful past belief.

Like I said.............I may be wrong with my opinion.
Plus, I said you "May" as in "might" think I am a B!tch! Never said you completely think that. I don't mind labels.
Your suggestion is noted, may I suggest you read a post fully.
