What Would You Tell A JW That Believes That Terrorism Means "The End"?

  If your dub had been brought up in the UK he would have lived with threat of terrorism from the IRA for decades. I have seen a prominent building in my hometown destroyed with the loss of many lives. Perhaps if he had heard of Enniskillen and Omagh and Newry, maybe he would be a little more pragmatic about the current threats .

  Of course the numbers of potential casualties are higher, that is progress, but I maintain that it is just as evil to blow up 28 people as it is to blow up 2800. The historical examples quoted above show that indeed "There is nothing new under the sun" . One of the things about the WT writing is the rosy picture they paint of the past. A real look at history shows it to have been largely a mean and cruel time . Anybody mention the slave trade??

  All the Dubs I now think it's "Always" the End. Anything else is simply ancillary.
  
  Besides, it makes me physically ill to talk about "The End" with the RoHos. Sometimes I just figuratively roll up in a ball and writhe in pain when I think about it. I've got too much livin' to do for "The End."

  Yes, this is a good point. Also consider the murderous rampages of the Vikings, the bloody slaughters that went on in Europe during the Middle Ages, and all of the tribal invasions and violence that has occured in Africa over the ages. Believe it or not, we in the Western World are considerably more safer than the people of Europe were throughout the Dark ages. Think about this: the modern media has created a brand new sense of instant awareness of everything that happens all over the world. Think about this: just 50 years ago, a farmer in Nebraska would have probably never heard about a bombing in Cairo, or Istanbul. 24-hour cable news coverage has made us aware of every single significant act of violence all over the world. So, even if we are safe in the area where we live, we feel incredibly insecure and unsafe. But, this spread of terrorism is indeed a very serious threat. I think that it is history repeating itself. I think that the current swell of Islamic Fascism is the modern day equivelant of the Nazi uprising of the 1930s.

  As for how much Genghis Khan reduced the population, I've seen numbers around the 60 million range...plus there's that theory that some 16 million folks today are descendants of 'ol Genghis himself....i.e., he wasn't exactly a gentleman during his conquests...

  Remember, JWs are millenialists. They think TODAY we are living in the end times. Whatever happened centuries ago has nothing to do with Jehovah's day, now!

  True that. It really isn't that hard for a THINKNIG person to see this. In many ways ways, we are much more enlightened today. Most people in the world, DO see what is wrong with terrorism. Most DID NOT see what was wrong with slave trade during its time.

  If the JW's keep saying the end is so close it will never come. Tell them they are preventing it from

  coming because they can't shut up about it. If they would shut up about it then

  the scriptures could be fulfilled : no one knows the hour........ It's coming like a thief in the night........ days of Noah took no notice............

  Just tell them to shut up! it feels good typing it, imagine how good it would feel to say it!
