Another point is that not only Jesus went by Gods word and considered it his word and important the disciples after him felt the same.
1 Peter 1:25 "The sayings of jehovah endure forever....."

If there is a god.... a LOVING god as the bible claims...he would NEVER EVER let that happen!
Legolas, You know I love you, but................the information that we do not have, is, what is going on in the spirit realm. Warlock

While "The Davinci Code" was a fictional book, I do believe that the Catholic Church has been responsible for altering the bible to some degree. If you ever watch some of the documentaries surrounding the issues discussed in the book, most bible scholars will agree that around 400 AD, the church was instrumental in leaving certain gospels out, particularly pertaining to women (keeping them from having any kind of role in teaching).

I to believe Jehovah of the old testament is Jesus of the new testament. All the Mosaic laws were done away with and were fulfilled in Jesus.

agpa37...I remember one instance in perticular whe Satan tried to tempt Jesus. The three times Jesus was tempted by him he (Jesus) used Scripture to refute and set Satan straight. Interestingly enough Satan did used scripture as well but he twisted the actual meaning of the texts.
The author of Matthew felt it would be appropriate to embellish Mark's brief story detail of Jesus being tempted by the Devil in the wilderness for 40 days like the OT story wherein the Jews were tempted in the wilderness for 40 years. He used his standard technique of quoting OT verse to create new story and dialog. He has Jesus be tempted by hunger, then tempted to jump the wall, then refuse world power.
The writer of Luke however changes it up a bit having him tempted with hunger then offered world power, then the Devil tries to get him to jump the wall.
So which order was correct? If one was correct the other was wrong. Are you comfortable with saying the Bible is wrong?

Tweetiebird, I believe you are on to something. After all there was the discovery of the Gospel of Judas among the Dead Sea Scrolls. I am interested in seeing what it is all about. According to what I hear about that Gospel, Judas was ordered by Jesus to sell him in order to carry out the execution of his death. That would be an interesting twist to what we have all been taught about Jesus' last hours on Earth.

Right now I'm reading a book called "I, Judas" which is a novel from Judas' point of view -- he did what he did to push Jesus into fulfilling his role (something like that -- so far in my reading Judas has only just met John the Baptist), not for money or evil.
I've always felt bad for Judas. I've been told that Jesus *had* to die, *had* to be betrayed by someone he loved. Jesus knew that it would be Judas...It sounds like Judas was set up.

Thank you -- I need to take some time to read it carefully. It seems to deal less with Judas' character and motivation than the storyline itself. Very scholarly and a bit over the head of a layperson like me...
