Be true to yourself. Don't do everything in your life based on what will make OTHER people happy. Get an education. Have an opinion and ask questions. Be happy.

I must add my voice to those who said that garybuss pretty much said it all. Anyone would be hard pressed to do better than to live by those 89 words. Thanks Gary.
The one other thing I would say is to find a couple of sports (running, biking, swimming) that you love, and do them every day. Staying really fit and mentally, physically and emotionally healthy adds a lot of life to life!

What Gary said and stay healthy and fit. Don't take foolish risks with your physical well-being.

avoid almost all debt, get the best education possible, don't drink, don't do drugs, don't smoke, learn your trade by age 30, go into business, avoid partnerships, plan for retirement by establishing at least 5 separate passive income streams, save, save, save.
Only do work you enjoy, only spend time with nice people, stay away from religion and scams. Learn to be a pragmatist and a skeptic, challenge everything. Be honest and generous and learn to play at work. Master all new technology early. Is there anything left? LOL!!
Gary is spot on again, as usual, but so, too, is eyeslice. Our kids DO grow up too fast, so give them plenty of your time while they are young and be their best friend as they grow into adults.
I'd also say don't sleep around, as too many people get hurt (and it could be YOU). Aim for a meaningful relationship. Go beyond the sex and have a meeting of minds.

Be who you are , harm no one, be in debt to no one except to love. You are your own authority, think for yourself. The list goes on... Peace Acadian

On personal relationships I'd tell my grandson to never hurt anyone on purpose and to always treat everyone as if it's the last time you'll ever see them.
Never do anything in private that you wouldn't want to explain to a judge, and never do anything in private that you wouldn't do in public. Behavior that's not acceptable in the check out isle at the grocery store isn't acceptable anywhere.
Always wait 3 days to reply to a person if you're upset. At the end of the 3 days, if you're still upset wait three more days. If you're REALLY upset wait three years.
The way to love your children is to love their mother.
Money's not all important but it makes the depressions shorter. Whoever said money can't buy happiness didn't know where to shop.
The worst case scenario is living, plan for it. -
