Entertaining yourself during the meetings

It appears my six year old granddaughter will be an only child, and she is endlessly creative. She had me follow her over hill and dale in yard and living room following a "treasure map" she had made up. At selected points I was to search for "clues". I picked up the next clue, a mass of scribbles, and I said, "I don't know Naomi, this map looks pretty hard to follow."

    "Don't worry, grandma. It's not a map. It's INSTRUCTIONS."

When I first joined, I used to pay attention and even take notes

After about 5 years in, I still paid attention but gave up on the notes

After 20 years in, I rarely paid too much attention, but stayed awake easily

After 25 years in, just before I left, I never paid attention, and struggled to stay awake.

I used to spend alot of time trying to get my Brother to laugh so he would get in trouble. I used to doodle mustaches and beards on the women in the watchtower and put dresses and earings and lipstick on the men. I would daydream alot. At the assemblies I knew a bathroom break would take up alot of time because the bathroom was far away and there was alwyas a line. I found the best way to pass time during meeting is not to go.

Hehe I definitely used to doodle on the pictures in the magazines too. Mom told me it was disrespectful until I caught her doing it once.

My best friend and I had pens we had cut the ink down so a rolled up message could fit in the top. The pens were matching as well. We then had a "code" of symbols and we would exchange pens and deciper the messages on the scrolls in the pens.

    WOW, that is really engenious!

I used to roll my socks down, and then back up again and see if they ended up higher.

I used to count things (tiles, bricks, patterns in the curtains)

I used to fill my mouth with air, then let half of it our, but holding the other half in one cheek. Then id divide the remainder and let half out. Id see how many times I could split the air in half before there was so little left I couldnt feel it in my mouth. (hmmmm I was a kid, not a mentalist!)

Hmm that reminds me. I used to come back from the washroom with a mouthful of water and pretend I was amphibious and that if I couldn't swallow a little bit of water with each breath I'd suffocate. That game lasted until all the water was gone of course.

At district assemblies we used to play it as a group with little containers we would fill from the fountains as we walked around between sessions.

We also used to play "spies" and pick a target, often a kid we didnt like to follow around and report on. We had secret meetings and would try to deceive them into thinking they were part of us or try to keep them from finding us.

When I was young I would write down a tally of how many times the speaker said Jesus, Jehovah, bible and God.

When I was older I would plan my outfit that I would wear when going out with my friends later that night. And daydream about which brother I would marry.

Then I had kids to keep me busy.

And at the last ones I went too I would stare at the speaker to see his aura. This takes a lot of practice. And you just cant stare at someone in public without them looking at you funny. But the speaker expects you to look and listen intently at him. So it was a good opportunity to practice finding auras.

Is it possible to learn this? I find it a fascinating subject.
