Do you think the American Governments really wishes to kill innocent children? No, but they the enemy do not play by the rules of war.

I did not see any other alternative that will really work to combat this evil. A war is what it will be, an age old solutions to the problems of man.

Who said many innocent will die? Did you know if those children in those countries saw you right now they would kill you without blinking? Even if it meant they strapped a bomb to themselves to kill you. I hate war and I hate death, but being "wise" won't help when these people are nutso. What, you thing they want a group hug? I don't think so.

We - the USA - will play by the "rules of war," they will not. We have no other choice then to kill because it is either kill or be killed. So sad.

So, anybody thought of any alternatives yet that would work other than justice being acted out by using a "death penalty" for all of the lives lost on US soil?

They aren't afraid of dying. What would really punish them is seeing their culture collapse.

Ship millions of barrels of Coca Cola, boxes of porn, crates of designer jeans, video tapes of MTV. Concerts by Madonna, Michael Jackson and nSync. Seriously, distract their people from the dismal lives they have and their power base disappears.

I posted this in a new thread. I am sorry, it looks like yours was started first. Well, here is my idea:

A Balanced Strategy to Eradicate "Identified" Terrorists & Hosts
**********************************************************************

1.) The entire coalition SEIZE AND FREEZE ALL FINANCIAL assets of the following terrorist hosts:

SYRIA / YEMEN / United Arab Emirates / IRAN / IRAQ / SUDAN / Afghanistan

2.) DETAIN ALL DIPLOMATIC PERSONNEL from each host country.

3.) DENY ALL VISAS to applicants from host countries and DEPORT tourists.

4.) Implement immediate economic sanctions affecting each host country

5.) Establish immediate NO-FLY ZONES over each host country and implement full NAVAL BLOCKADES of all ports.

6.) Forward ULTIMATUMS to all hosts notifying them that the International Coalition DEMANDS the immediate surrender of all known terorrists operating within their borders. Provide lists from international intelligence to each host and demand extradition and surrender within 10 days.

7.) DEMAND the destruction of all terrorist resources located within the borders of each host country.

8.) DEMAND Coalition Troops supervise and execute the destruction of all terrorist resources (camps,houses,weapons,literature,etc)

9.) If all conditions are not met within 10 days, each host will be invaded and occupied by force, and the host government will be removed and replaced with a temporary UN governemnt until free elections can be conducted.

10.) If cooperation with the conditions is completed, all assets will be released minus the deducted cost of international coalition operational expenses incurred.

This type of plan would decrease the impending urgency to respond in a military fashion, and deter hostilities, and also reduce the number of casualties on both sides if met with resistance.

Utopian Reformist - good ideas I think. Allow them to save themselves before a strike, this way any lives that to be lost may be saved and if not the blood is on thier hands.

War and death sickens me, but they hurt us and struck us first. I am getting tired of playing a waiting game before thier next attack. How many more lives need to be lost on US soil before we act?

you may or may not have valid points, but you telling everyone that believes in war to go enlist is only side-stepping the original question of this thread. you can point out who we've aided and when, and say that "we are reaping what we sowed"........that's all fine in the neat little picture you paint, but how about answering the original question? which was......if not war, then how do we combat the terrorists NOW? the simplistic answer of "cut off the money to terrorist regimes" solves nothing. regardless of who got whos money when, THEY HAVE THE POWER NOW, so what do we do to fight it without force? until you answer this question with some form of an intelligent answer, your little spats with jelly are really meaningless.
