When I was quite young, there was a locally produced after-school show for kids called "Happy Rain", who dressed in an indian costume and showed old cartoons and episodes of serial adventures. My favorite part of her show was the ancient Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon, Commando Cody, and Superman episodes. The special effects were just awful by todays standards, but we didn't know much better at the time and they showed what people in the 1930's and 1950's thought the future might be like. Special memories for the spaceships with sparklers in their tails, Buck Rogers jetpack, the rocklike beings who lived on a world so close to the sun and so hot that mere humans ignited if they stepped into the sunlight, the planet Mongo where everyone dressed like Romans, but had a primitive form of television to communicate with the emperor, and Commando Cody climbing into the exhaust tubes of his spaceship to light the pilot light!!!

I didn't mind Buck Rogers, but my favourite tv programme ever was Fawlty Towers. I remember John Cleese in Monty Python, which wasn't always funny, but FT was brilliant. I still love it now

Starsky and Hutch - I think David Soul was actually my first crush!
When I was really young we used to go to the 'Saturday cinema' and I vaguely remember something called Chico the Rainmaker - but everyone thinks I'm imagining it. The main character was a small African guy who either could make his head spin round really fast and/or take it off completely - or he may have just been a head that another character carried round....
I'm not making it up, honest! Anyone?
