who told you about my skirts! I knew I should have shredded those picture.
I have been thinking of the King David thing. The affair with Bathsheba, the murder of her husband all was so premeditated and covered up. Sure he got scolded by Nathan but later David told his son Solomon that Jehovah punished him for bloody hands DUE TO HIS INVOLVEMENT WITH WAR (wars Jehovah told him to make)and denied him from building Jahs temple. So he gave donations to the temple (again making himself look good in the eyes of the people)
So again, more lies and coverups. Total cover up but he is used as an excellent example in so many ways and we were always hearing about how wonderful David was.
So many of us were thrown to the streets for much lesser charges.
The inconsistancy and injustice makes no sense whatsoever.
And all that stuff about Davids later troubles was his punishment ( to make Jeh look fair) is just rubbish to me. What the other people did had little to do with the consequence of his sin and people on the outside never linked the two. It was all covered up in his life time.
And Blondie in her Sunday lesson brought up how David later put to death most of Sauls offspring---how lovely. Very merciful man indeed.
In my mind I am all the time reviewing the spewage I was taught and how I feel about all those stupid Bible stories now. I resent being manipulated through those strange odd tales.
Anewme! Yes, that book is full of Nasty nastinesses!
It's not until you actually study it, free from Watchtower, or other religious interpretation that you get the FULL picture.
And a pretty picture it is NOT!
When I left I only kept two books i thought were decent to have house room, the Bible and My Book of Bible Stories.
When my daughter was old enough to read I had a flick through that Story Book (The Book of Bible Stories...guys....) and I saw with new eyes how every single story was about murder or sex or violence - even the pictures were unsuitable for a kid. It went straight in the bin. Vile piece of pseudo child literature.
all the blatant contradictions that no believer can seem to see but all non-believers can pick out right away.
God is all knowing --- but he did not have a clue what was going on in Sodom other than "reports" that had come to him
God is everywhere -- but he had to GO DOWN and see for himself.
God is all merciful and impartial - but he has people murdered without trial, charges or even a chance to repent on numerous occasions.
God wants to save everyone, but he can't because of the lack of faith -- but faith is a gift God gives to those he choses.
God is all wise and all knowing -- yet he damns reality for not being what he always knew it would not be.... like Jesus cursing the fig tree for not bearing fruit out of season.

Very true, Gill. I'm really stuggling to come up with what parts DO make sense...

Dansk! You mean there's a Book of Morons!?!
Shucks! My spelling's getting worse! Qcmbr, I don't wish to insult you or your faith - but, please, the Book of Mormon! Sheesh! BTW, well done in keeping your composure and taking part - though I still think you've got rocks in your head! Ian
Dansk! Qcmbr is totally COOL....even though he has got rocks in his head!!!
But I'm still not too sure about his fantasy of seven women getting hold of his skirts!
Qcmbr, sorry to take the piss! I'm afraid it's a bad bad habit of mine and I don't intend to break it!
