Little Toe, what new stance on blood. Must have missed that one. Do we remove all those bulky "how to" manuals from our ER now?

Dungbeetle, (incidentally very valuable creatures) there are more rules here than the Scribes and Pharisees made up concerning the Sabbath!!

    Hiya Pub Singer,

There's more Brits than you might think. Most show other countries as their home, remember that as the UK is so compact and densely populated they feel that they couild be easily recognised, they can't dilute themselves as easily as in some much larger countries.

    Hi Amos,

New stance on blood is that you are no longer DF'd, but by the course of your actions you DA yourself (like when you go to another church or join the military).

To be absolutely frank, it looks like a bit of legal twaddle to me.
The result is the same, as we all know.

Little Toe, UNREAL. I recall that one poor sod of a JW went to the JC to confess he had taken blood. He said he was truly sorry. Unfortunately, some bright spark asked him "will you do it again?" and the twit said YES - so in their mercy they promptly disfellowshipped the cad. Can all these JWs who were wrongfully d/f make compensation claims for loss of loved ones? Or is this not retrospective?

    Hi Amos,

I don't think him a twit, I applaud his honesty.

I would suspect that law would state that the "loved ones" took a course of action under their own volition, and aren't around to receive the benefits of such a claim nor around to check on the state of their mind, to see if it WAS of their own volition.
But then I'm not lawyer (thank goodness), so I could be wrong.

You know, Amos, that's an interesting one - as I think about it further.

All the following is my interpretation, so it could be wrong - I'd love for any of the others to pitch in here:

By his actions he DA'd himself, yet confessed (hence should be classed as repentant) and so should likely be dealt with by the elder that he confessed to, and possibly the P.O., and then "helped to regain spiritual strength" (I'm probably gonna get flamed for that tongue in cheek comment <g>) by a couple of assigned elders.
Technically, since the blood issue is now not a DF offense, I can't see how a JC could have been legally formed.
Also, was he told, and was the announcement DF or DA?
It almost certainly should have been DA.
I would suspect that if he appealed (although it may be too late now, if it was over a week ago) that it would cause all kinds of interesting calls to the C.O. and legal department.

Regardless - he would still likely be castigated by the body (which would be felt by the cong. and probably reacted upon), and kept an eye on for further infringements.
That sounds wrong (and I personally hate it), but welcome to the real world.

Just wanted to say 'hi' to LittleToe and PS, as I'm from your part of the world too. I'm right between you, in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. So if you ever fancy meeting, I'd be happy to host it!

I've been away from the board for a while, just lurking now and then. I married into a JW-affected family and my mum-in-law is the only one left in the WT now - but we're working on it.

Hoping you decide to take the plunge, LT!!!

    Love

    Hi Sunbeam,

Nice to hear from you, thanks for the encouragement.
I wouldn't be at all surprised to see us all meet up sometime.
(" Don't know where, don't know when, all I know..." - just trying to see if PS will show us his voice <g>).

It's about time the "Angel of the North" got re-painted, don't ya think, <g>.

    Hey LT

You've heard of 'distressed', our Angel's just ahead of his time with the 'weathered' look.

Coincidentally, I've just spent the weekend in Edinburgh, city of ubiquitous pipers and shortbread. You Scots certainly know how to have a good time, we had a ball!

BTW, not sure if you know but PS and I are born-agains. But don't let that put you off :-). Anyway, we're in good company - I just read an interview with my heavy metal hero, Alice Cooper. He's become a Christian, so at least we can expect some decent music on the other side. Needless to say we'd be pleased to offer any support you need on your journey of discovery, wherever it leads you.

So PS, are you as good as Vic Reeves?

    Love
