Forgiving the Watchtower Society

    Being One of Jehovah's Witnesses

After having been one of Jehovah's Witnesses either through being raised as one or getting the "truth" from the preaching work, some have reverted back to the organization as one of the "lost sheep".

    Forgive Us Our Trespasses

It is well documented what the Watchtower has done regarding the issues of
blood transfusions, hiding sexual abuse, involvement with the United Nations
and so forth, however, there are those that still want to go back to the "truth."

    Why do they do it?

1.) Is it because they still have friends, family members or miss the structure and
" security" that the organization provided?

2).Is there some kind of doubt that perhaps it maybe God's organization after all?

3.)Or is it comparable to smoking "I know smoking will kill me, but after all, I enjoy it!"

Please provide your perspective and point of view regarding this matter.

    Respectfully,

    The Wanderer

I wouldn't personally go back, and if I get the chance, I'll help others to leave.

There's nothing to go back for, it's not the truth, I am absolutely certain of that.

I agree , I think most people go back for friends or family , it's not easy being shut off due to the WTBTS DF and DA or marking policies .I was one of the lucky studies in that I had no friends or family so I could tell them off with no consequences . I hate people that think they can bully you into believing something or doing something or from saying something . I know more about the cult now than ever and consider myself very fortunate to have found a site that discusses things as thoroughly as this one . How could I possibly know stuff without having the WTBTS own thoughts and publications at my disposal ? They are very misleading about their own history. Then you find out it's not just a refining work and they actually do flip flop time and again on stuff , then they will even deny the use of dogma which is exactly what that is . If it can't be proven as fact and you make people accept it as fact without evidence , DOGMA .....

Let's be explicit about this: If you forgive a thief , he is still a thief.

Forgiving the Watchtower is good, as a part of a person's spiritual progress but that doesn't change what they are.

Forgiving the Watchtower doesn't mean they deserve any sense of authority or respect as representing God.

They gave up any legitimate claim to authority after 120 years of false prophecy and that's that.

I'm with Met on this. I can forgive on the basis that the organization, (meaning the individuals in it, not so much the collective organization), may have good intentions. But those "good" intentions, still don't change the fact, that they lied, misrepresented what little truth they did tell, continue to hurt families, and individuals, etc. No point in going back to that.

    Hi there:

I will never forgive them, because they will never, ever be sorry. They are very haughty, and because of that.. I think they qualify as the 'evil slave', who got drunk with power, and beat their fellow slaves.. And Jehovah and Jesus will soon take care of them..and throw them in the lot with the hypocrites..where the weeping and gnashing of teeth will be.

I could never go back. There is nothing to go back to. They dont have the troof. The music stinks and the meetings are totally boring.

It doesn't make any sense to forgive someone who isn't sorry. That just enables them to mistreat you again. I can forgive almost anyone for almost any injury they have done me, but only if they realise they have done wrong and promise never to do it again. I can't see the Watchtower Society ever doing that.

I can forgive people who are sorry and do their best not to repeat their mistakes, but the Society if given a chance would only hurt me again.

I agree with funkyderek - an apology is needed prior to forgiveness.
