Have you found times like Christmas have lost that special feeling?

i watch my family and they totally get into the spirit of it and i always feel as though i am sat 'outside' of some bubble or something, i enjoy it dont get me wrong but just not as much as they do.

Also, are you less inclined to believe in supernatural or strange things and look for a rational explanation?

I find i am slowly looking toward rational explainations for things and in the absense of them i just wait and see.

I have to say I still enjoy the holidays. I love putting up a tree, and decorating it. Watching the kids open their gifts, its great!

As far as the rest, I try to give reasonable explanations for things, but sometimes I just cant. Guess Im still leaning towards the "boo!" side..

Well......Xmas used to be my favorite time of year...and sad to say that now it is NOT the same

But now that I don't even believe in the bible ....I will be calling it 'Santa Day' ..... And partying as usual!

As for the supernatural stuff...I believe in it...just 'what' that is, I can't say for sure though!

now that I am an adult and in charge of making the holidays "happen" for my kids...since husband is still a JW, it has become such a burden on me. i literally have to do EVERYTHING and my whole family is scattered across the continent and I dont get to see anybody else at the holidays either. So ...it doesnt shine as it used to. But the last time before the JWs that I did Xmas was 1982 and I was with family, not a JW, nothing corroding my view of it. I didnt have kids yet and it was decidedly different. We've only been doing xmas since 97 so are still kind of developing our own traditions all over again. My children love it. My oldest however i feel from him that he isnt particularly interested in it and I blame the JWs for that. He was brain washed for the first 9 years of his young life about how it was evil. But teenagers are kinda blase about most things. I hope it is special to him when he has his own family.

I also dont believe that jesus is a "savior" any more...I do believe he made an incredible impact on humanity and hell...any excuse for a party so HAPPY BIRFDAY JESUS!

I was raised in the truth right from when I was an Egg so I never ever celebrated Christmas or birthdays. Today I can't get into the Christmas mood at all, I'm like scrooge or the grouch. I hate it.

Everyone expects you to be happy and jolly but i just don't get it. Its not that I think its wrong its just that I don't have the happy Christmas childhood memories that evoke these feelings of joy at Christmas.

The fact that happiness and joy seem to be compulsory at this time of year makes things even worse !

Try and download "Wonderful Christmas" by Tom Mcrae, that song really sums up what Christmas is like for me.

    Yes. Probably to a fault.

    Good Girl or Bad Girl?

I was raised in the Jehovah's Witness Organization also so never celebrated any holidays... as a kid I never missed it because I never had it and I was taught it was right to not celebrate... but now that I'm an adult and exJW (in mind, body and spirit, if not "officially") it's just another thing I do not have in common with my friends... the childhood memories like Devilsnok said.

I'm going to be involved in all the holidays this year as much as reasonably possible and I have to say I'm excited but also apprehensive... it's hard to deprogram sometimes, KW, you know?

I was raised with christmas, yet was never a big fan of it. Nowadays, it's just for the kids to me.

As for rational answers--yes, I believe that there is either a logical answer to something, or no answer at all.

Whils this is natural, this wont discontinue until you let go and let everyone elses laughter and joy be infectious and whilst it might never be your most favourite time of year, at least this way you might find some fun in it. You can then think of such times in the future and things can only get better.

Stop being so miserable or il chin ya lol

    Bah humbug
