How do you feel about the name Jehovah?

Good question. Since it is associated with the evil empire, Watchtower Bullshit and Tract Society, in which I was indoctrinated and held bondage for the first 23 years of my life, it is not surprising that the name 'Jehovah' holds a negative connotation for me. Not my fault. Jehovah can blame the WTBSTS, and smite their asses for it.

Jesus, who died for our sins, never used the name Jehovah. If it was good enough for Jesus, its good enough for me, 'cause Jesus is just alright with me.

I believe either Jehovah, Yahweh, LORD, GOD or Father are all acceptable ways to address God. I tend to in prayer use the term "Father" as I believe if you are born of spirit you are God's child and I never called my father by his given name. But others feel differently about it. Lilly

I must admit, I do cringe a bit when I hear it or say it. I remember feeling that way when I was in the 'truth' aswell, especially when the kiddies would answer up.... 'because we love jeeeeehooooooovah!' That used to make me feel really on edge. <shrugs>

I feel kinda weird if I use it in a sentence. My belief is gone but I still can't disrespect the name.

I think it's out of respect for my Dad and those at the hall who I loved. (btw-those at the hall who I loved are also the ones who don't say "HI" or even worse, can't even recognize my presence. But that's okay 'cause I feel good being the loving one.)

I have learned a very, very different meaning for the tetragrammaton - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yhvh

Jehovah, as used and worshipped by the JWs, is an entirely different entity.

I remember looking through an old book on witchcraft and it said Jehovah was a magic word and used in many spells. I always found it ironic that these pagan witches could use the name when we were told that we were special and holy because we used it as Jehovah's witnesses and in fact saying it was a way to make demons leave us alone.

The Society loves to go on and on about how important it is to use the name.

But then admits that Jehovah isn't really the correct spelling or pronunciation, and no one really knows the correct name. haha what a joke.

If it was so damn important, then doncha think we'd have the correct name?

Well, according to my research I believe Yahweh is A SON OF GOD (El Elyon), as are the other Gods of the Bible (Baal, Dagon, etc.), who have done a piss poor job of managing the earth. Appearently Deut 32 indicates that El Elyon (Almighty God) found this to be the case as well and condemned his sons to the earth as mortals.

I loath the name Yahweh. To me he is nothing but he god of the jewish nation. I would rather have a personal relationship with El Elyon than anyone else.

I do cringe a bit, but I find myself using it in prayer, out of habit.

I don't use the name Jehovah for God anymore for the simple reason that I do not want to be associated in any way, shape or form with the JDumb religion.

I just call Him God or Lord.
