But just listened to the news and apparently security for the Pope has been stepped up. If anything were to happen to the Pope, things could get very messy.

If anything like that happened, an already - dangerous world would get a lot more dangerous, almost overnight.

In my own area, there are many Catholics and many Muslims, and sections of both communities are more than a little militant. I wouldn't like to even try to imagine what would happen around here if Muslim extremists assassinated the Pope, or even attempted it.

Such a situation doesn't bear thinking about.

Interesting thought here. I personally think it would lead to a lot of world disorder, but in most cases the Christian faiths are a lot more stable then the Muslims and I think they would not lead themselves into a war over it. Although, I would see it causing a lot of hate crimes towards the Muslims that live inside other countries.

I was told that the Bible code this pope will be shot. I have not looked at all into this so called bible code but thought it was interesting after see what has happen to day.

I will restate I have not even once look at the bible code so I am not saying it is true.

I thought the Bible Code was interesting for a long time. Until I watched a program on it, that showed that the way they find codes in the bible is possible in any book. They even did it with the book Moby Dick. So, not much merit is in it.

There would probably be riots in areas like the one mention by FOD. But really, would would go to war over the Pope? The "nation" over which he is sovereign is only a few acres in area and the Swiss guard isn't big enough to take anybody on. Russia is dominated by the Orthodox church, and those folks certainlly won't go to war to avenge the Pope. France? Italy? Spain? They are having a little to do with the the terrorist war the world finds itself in as they possibly can. Shoot, the terrorists scared the Spainsh into caving in !

The Argentine and Brazilian navies aren't powerful enough to project the kind of power needed to take on the Muslim world. and the rest of Latin America doesn't even count! China, Japan, and Korea won't have a dog in that fight. anhd thefolks in Africa are a joke, at least the ones who might care.

I don't think that it would result in a major war. It would be considered another major act of terrorism in the global "war on terror". There wouldn't be any particular nations to declare war on. But, I think that it would arouse an enourmous amount of hostilities around the world. Hate crimes against Muslims would skyrocket.

I think that this snafu is very revealing. It's very interesting to observe how among the Muslim extremists, it is perfectly acceptable for them to preach slogans such as "death to the Zionists" inside their mosques. Yet, when the Pope criticizes not Islam at large, but the extremists factions; they are enraged with "righteous indignation". Talk about double standards.
