    Tally,

Your whole post was about Jehovah's Witnesses reactions to tragedy and then you give this anecdote.

    joelbear,

Dan Rather, as I reported, on Dave Letterman, gave the short (not entertaining!) account of something that happened in Brooklyn,
and I reported here what he reported there.

No names, no specifics... just a general reference.

I guess we were supposed to think you had switched gears and were talking about Mormons on top of a building in Brooklyn.

You are pissed off, now, aren't you jb, and I THINK I know why...

You said "we were supposed to think"... ??

    What am I now, a MIND-CONTROLLER?

Everyone reading the thread I started doesn't have freedom of thought?

You and the rest of the readers were free to think whatever you wanted once I reported what Dan Rather told Dave Letterman...
    and Looky What YOU Thought!

    Suuuurrrrre, I set the bait...
but it was supposed to be for Watchtowerkult Sympathizers and Apologists, not X-Dubs like yerself... but YOU TOOK THE BAIT...
    and now you're pissed.

    Awwwwwww, schoo schorry, joelbear.

And now you're trying to chew me out about it...

Your implication that Witnesses were having a party on top of Bethel was silly at best and heinous at worst.

I implied nothing of the kind!

    Yep.
    Yep.
    You're pissed.
You chowed down on "bait" meant for others and now you're trying to spit it out.

    .

(edited 'cause I just couldn't resist adding a few more things...hee)

    hawk,

: Captain Dan the News Man Blather is an idiot.

A massive understatement, if I ever heard one.

If I want serious news, CBS can kiss my white ass. I'll take the old McNeil Lehrer report any day of the week. Wall Street Journal is pretty good. Orange County Register is good: used to be better before it went "multi-cultural" and tried to forget the hard facts so as pander to everyone.

Peter Jennings should go back to Canada and take his opinions with him. Tom Brokaw is not too bad.

I rather read any book by Bob Woodward or any editorial by George Will, or Bill Buckley. Even if the "news" they report is several days or several years old. At least they get most of their facts right.

    Tally,

Sometimes, I stumble and exhibit a stupidity that some accuse me of
having. I read your top note and, although I saw the references to
Brooklyn and JWs, I never made the connection I was "supposed" to
make. You tripped me up when at the end you asked, "Who in the world
could these people be?" Not fair, Tally, cause...

I'm thinking, "Who in the world could these people be?"

Thank goodness for sts or I'd a never figured it out. Silly me.

Wonder why the JWs never entered my head. No, really. I wonder. Hmmm...

Well, I am not cheering at all, my friend, I found the terrorist crime disgusting - I find no fitting word just now.
At the same time, though, I think of the 500,000 Iraqi children who have died since the Gulf War because of the UN embargo; I think of the 500,000 or so who dies in Rwanda; of the 2,000 or so who dies in the refugee camps massacre by the Israeli some twenty years ago.
There is so much agony, so much terrorism, so much evil.
If one is to die, though, one had better do it together with many others, in an instant, and on television - the daily, silent deaths do not seem to count.

    Interesting....

JW's are accused of using this tragedy to further their agenda and belief regarding the future action by God in the destruction of the world.

Tallyman is using this tragedy to further his own agenda and belief in the destruction of the WatchTower Society.

I think truth, fairness and kindness are the best way to help people.
I admire all three and try to use them in as much of my life as possible.

    peace
