Thank you for your kind words and affirmation. I think we show our love for our creator by our love for our brothers/neighbors etc.

Yes, pneumonia is a monster, my 4th and worst bout of it, thought I was gonna die(antibiotics are a modern miracle if you ask me!) I am not going to be on much tonite, cause my stamina is way down. even to sit at the computer. How pathetic is that???

I agree with your last sentence: "Be nice to others, help others, love others." A good code to live by.

The rest of what you wrote, about trying to figure out god in all of this, perhaps needs another epiphany or two, and they may come with time..

I had a few epiphanies as I was leaving the JWs, and they went like this: 1.) The Witnesses do not have the truth. 2.) The Bible is a man-made book of myth, history, tradition and the ramblings of some seriously mentally ill folk thinking god was giving them some sort of message. 3.) Science and reason are our best bet for understanding this world and our place in it. 4.) There is no god, no angels, no demons, no spirit world. We're on our own, and we better start figuring that out pretty soon before we destroy our world.

All of this has taken me to a good place, where I don't have to try to figure out what in hell is going on with such a capricious creator.

I considered the 'no god' option and it just made no sense for me. For a variety of reasons. I don't think he is capricious unless/until we put expectations on him that are biblically based-but that is my perspective. I don't think NOT believing in God is fatal, I just plain do believe in him. Or Him or Her, as the case may be.

I think I am going to be a nicer person without religious dictates running me, though. I am pretty nice to others, but I think I will be much nicer/kinder to ME, and that will probably seep into my relationships with other people too.

Also, I think this will open me up intellectually so that I am not so resistant to certain ideas. I am very excited about that-when I think of how much I just shut out in the past. Always a fundamentalist, pretty much, in every religion. I must be an annoying person. Trying to get over that. What a bore.
