I have just read a Georgette Heyer bok set in regency times i have all her books before that i read Agnes Grey by Ann Bronte who i think was much underated i also enjoy Agatha Christie and at the moment anything on veg growing as we've just taken on an allotment and are total beginners. I love it that i can now read what i want without feeling guilty, before i used to have these mad spurts where i would try to study every little thing for the meetings ministry etc and i'd waste hours doing it and still not understand it!I also like reading money management books and childcare books. The books i read the most though are toddler books for my boys - and some of them are very enjoyable!

I just bought the complete works of George Orwell. "Animal Farm" was hilarious. So clever. It was written as a political satire of course but I could pretty much substitue different ranks of the WTBTS for all the animals. I guess mind control is mind control whether it's governments, religions or "pigs" doing the controlling. I'm on "Burmese Days" right now and am saving "1984" for last.

Escape From The Moonies by Susan & Anne Swatland.

    So many similarities here:

    Heavenly Deception = Theocratic Warfare

    Independent Thinking

    Do more

    Fear of opposers.

The same control mechanisms, just different doctrines.

I have been on a John LeCarre kick:

Absolute Friends; very good, an amazing look at the current madness that is substituting for a coherent anti-terror policy.

The Little Drummer Girl: one of his best, and surprisingly topical given the latest Israeli/Lebanon conflict.

And I am a huge fan of Elmore Leonard; I highly recommend The Hot Kid, his latest.

Elmore Leonard has had a few books made into movies that are nearly as good as the books. Rum Punch became Jackie Brown, with Pam Grier and Samuel L; Out of Sight was very good. The Big Bounce as a movie was horrible; not even close to the book's feel.

I have just finished listening to a book on CD about Mark Twain; I am amazed at how far ahead of his time he was. When he was became rich and successful, he did not pull in his horns at all, in fact he became even more outspoken about racism and genocide; check out his speech to the New England society about Plymouth Rock and the Pilgrims. It makes me think of Stephen Colbert lancing the government at the press club recently.

First I would like to recommend to all the Vampire Huntress series by LA Banks..The WHOLE series so far is AWESOME.

I just finished reading "Memoirs of a Geisha" so many more details than the movie. I saw the movie months ago, just read the book, and now watching the movie again.

I'm currently reading Laurell K. Hamilton's "Guilty Pleasures." so far so good.
