It was an eye-opener for sure. I know the story from the victim/survivor side but it was something else to see how these guys operate.
Some I knew like the seduction and grooming but the utter shamelessness when getting caught is beyond me.
That claim "It's the first time I ever did this" actually made me laugh. an experience I had (not about child abuse) A few years ago when I was in my 30's a man approached me on an escalator coming out of the Metro/subway. It was at a new station that had recently been opened so quite often people would ask for directions. A man a couple steps behind me asked me something and I directed him but then he asked again. He looked down at a map he was holding and then moved the map and exposed himself. At that point in my life I was just disgusted by anything to do with sex and instead of freezing I walked away up the escalator. I figured if he was going to follow me he could freeze the thing outside in the -20C weather. When I got to the exit there was a police car across the street and I walked right up and reported the incident. The police had to call the station and let them know they were entering the metro but quite a bit of time had passed and we figured he had gone back down and had gotten away. But we went in together. As we were going down the stairs there he was going back up on the escalator. The cops jumped over the partition and grabbed him. His first words were "It's the first time I ever did this."
Somehow he thought that might encourage me to drop the charges -- it didn't.
