Okay, this is a series I loved in the 1970's ... except for that who BSG 1984 thing that should have never happened. When the new series came out, I was all excited. It was good, and then quickly it took the path of several series these days, in which it "covers very little each episode." I kind of lost interest last season and then picked up on it again, near the season end. Was not hard, as I mentioned, so little is covered in each episode. Well with the end of last year, ending in such a odd way that I did not see coming. I had to watch the season premiere tonight. I am so irritated! They have now turned a show I liked into a political statement on the Iraq war. Give me a break! I wanted to be able to see some sci-fi, etc. Instead I see words like "Insurgents" and "Suicide Bombers" in this series. So stupid! Again though, very little was covered in this two hour premiere, so I guess we will soon see messages about respecting other people's religions and being politically out of control. Hollywood is so subtle. Anyone else feel this way?

I am watching it right now. (commercial break) Of course when we hear the words insurgent, and occupying force, etc. we immediately reflect upon the Iraq war BUT this doesn't mean that there is any political agenda going on with the show.

This is just a coincidence. Not every show/writers/creators has an agenda.

Other thoughts as far as a political agenda with the show...

Cylons are mono-theistic (unlike the original series in which they were not religious) and ofcourse are out to kill the humans because it is their god's will (thinly veiled US/christian reference and jab)

You must have been watching a different two hour Battlestar Galactica premiere than I was. Lets see, we had:

    spoilers in invisotest...

    Tigh has lost an eye.

Tigh's wife going to some length to get him released from detention.

Kara discovers she has a child, who then almost dies.

The cylons create a police force made up of humans. This force is attacked at their graduation ceremony.

Baltar had a gun put to his head, forcing him to sign death warrants for 200 people, including Tyrol's wife, Rosalyn, and Tom Zarek.

Boomer is once again a soldier in the Colonial fleet.

Much, much dissension among the cyclon 'skin jobs' over just what their goals are.

    Confrontation between Apolla and Adama.

Contact between the fleet and the humans on New Caprica is restored.

I do agree though, about way too much reference to "current events". I like my sci-fi to address real world issues, but this was laying it on rather thick. Suicide bombers, torture of detainees, ok, yeah we get it, you don't have to pound it into our heads.

But I can't wait to see where it goes.

Now, the Lost season premiere... talk about a whole lot of nothing going on...

Yeah, nothing more true, ever said.

I know that BSG covered a lot. Think about though, how little is covered in most of these episodes these days. We have become accustomed to series saying little to nothing in each episode and accept it. The worst is LOST.

i was an avid fan until the end of season 2.5. that last show, was a fan killer, for me. last night, i was rivoted to the tv, but again, it is not what it was that got me hooked with the mini series and kept me that way for 2 seasons. i've been so disappointed with this show. the way season 2 ended, waiting 6 months to see season 3, and again, more disappointment. i don't believe there is an agenda.i think people read different things ito it. i just saw a good show, well don't excellent effects, good story. now i see poop. i bought the first season dvd's. i manufactured my own second season by recording the shows on my computer, cutting the comercials and burning the result to dvd's. i don't think i'll waste my efforts this year with recording it at all.

Battlestar Galatica 1984 .... I feel sick mentioning it. After the first series was canceled, the people who owned the rights, tried to come back with a shell of series. It was named Battlestar Galltica 1984. In the series, the fleet is found many decades later and they have arrived at earth. Captian Adoma is alive, but Starbuck, Apollo and Boomer have all died in battle over the years. They little boy that was in the original is now a grown man (played by Dick Van Dykes son). They go down to earth and see we are not an advanced race and yet they have super like powers while on our planet. They can jump like superman, and do all sorts of other things. They have little speedbikes like the one in Return of the Jedi and go around solving problems on earth, trying to find a place. In one episode they did not even make anything new at all, in an effort to make fans happy they explained how Starbuck died by taking an episode from the original and reedited it. Oh, and the leader of the humans was a kid with super mental powers in which he could tell the future, move things with his mind, etc.

Yes, the above is all true ... and any fans of the original wish it never happened.

Yes, the revial of the original series in the '80s was forgettable,....lol

I kinda like the new series. Rather well done with a lot of character development. Top notch FX 'natch. What did you want to happen? I'm just glad there's no disco involved,....:-)

Watched the season 3 premiere tonight. The parallels to current events and moral commentary on decisions made in time of war are obvious and even so, if follows with the premise of the series. I do like the realism of the show and the psych treatment of the characters.

there were some annoying christian views also in the old series.

but anyway, even the new serie was not bad, it could have been a lot better, imho.
