    OK, I'm on a roll.

Were you all told that only people with the right heart condition would understand the scriptures?

And, did you constantly feel like you did not have the right heart condition?

I just sorta gave up as my heart was not going to be manipulated anymore.

So, sometimes I kinda feel like I have a defective heart.

I don't know why this song comes to mind............it just did.

    NEIL YOUNG

    "Needle And The Damage Done"

    I caught you knockin'
    at my cellar door
    I love you, baby,
    can I have some more
    Ooh, ooh, the damage done.

    I hit the city and
    I lost my band
    I watched the needle
    take another man
    Gone, gone, the damage done.

    I sing the song
    because I love the man
    I know that some
    of you don't understand
    Milk-blood
    to keep from running out.

    I've seen the needle
    and the damage done
A little part of it in everyone
    But every junkie's
    like a settin' sun.

Yes, I was told that only people with the right heart condition would understand the scriptures.

No, I thought I had the right heart condition, because I was borg-ized. I believed the crap so
I thought I understood the scriptures. NOW I DON'T UNDERSTAND them, but I realize that's
okay. You just didn't allow yourself to fully understand THEIR way, so you THOUGHT your heart
    condition was wrong.

You probably had a healthier heart all along. You just have to believe in yourself.

"Right heart condition" -- Translation: a passive, submissive, insecure personality preferred by the WTS because it's more susceptible to indoctrination.

"Heart condition" is just another WT catchphrase that doesn't mean what they say it means.

That was a constant reminder and I
    had forgotten about that.

Thank you for the reminder. It was
    insane to believe that.

    Respectfully,

If having the right heart condition involves agreeing to let a committee of men in Brooklyn coerce and manipulate me through guilt and fear; then I guess I don't have it.

If having the right heart condition involves me puting more esteem and trust in the Watchtower magazine than the Bible itself; then I guess I don't have it.

If having the right heart condition involves me pushing myself to the point of exhaustion on an endless treadmill of work for an organization; then I guess I don't have it.

If having the right heart condition involves gleefully anticipating the violent slaughter of 6 billion human beings; then I guess I don't have it.

I would rather have the "wrong" heart condition than to not have a heart at all.

If you have the right "heart condition" you will accept "the truth".

So how can you punish people for not accepting "the truth", they didn't have the right heart condition, so how could they?

Hearing that phrase, "Only those with the right heart condidtion......" always broke me up. Especially hearing it from people who had no idea of what a heart was. I've never dealt with a group of people who, as a whole, were so un-loving as to twist the scriptures to their own benefit and condem everyone else. It was as if everytime they were told to, "Open your bibles and turn to....", they would see a bright light flash out from their personal copies and envelope only them.

right heart condition is a lot nice sounding than sponge-for-brains. it puts being receptive and naive in an emotional light that sounds warm to make you want it.

Just a scare tactic the Watchtower Society uses to keep the 'sheep' faithful:

    WT 11/15/04 page 20 paragraph 24

Jehovah’s Judgment Will Come Against the Wicked

God expects us to warn others about the coming judgment. We desire to do all we can to find those who are “rightly disposed for everlasting life.” (Acts 13:48) Yes, we desire to help as many as possible to share in the spiritual prosperity that we now enjoy. And we want them to survive the approaching execution of divine judgment upon the wicked. Of course, to share in these blessings, we must have the proper heart condition.

    *** w77 4/15 p. 238 par. 8 The Faith That Means Survival ***

From the foregoing it is clear that only when a person has the right heart condition can the truth of God’s Word strike a responsive chord in his heart. There must be what has been termed "the will to believe" what is true. The person who proudly and hypocritically challenges evidences upon which faith is built, and who is determined to doubt, cannot be convinced, because he simply does not want to believe. It is as though he feels an emotional need to be hypercritical, to doubt things.

    *** w64 5/1 p. 286 Do You Remember? ***

What factors are essential to understanding Bible prophecy?

God’s due time, his holy spirit, his visible organization or earthly channel of communication, a right heart condition.—Pp. 67, 68.

    *** w57 7/15 p. 436 par. 5 Receiving God's Holy Spirit Today ***

To revert to an illustration again: Just as we need a radio set, electricity and proper tuning of dials to get in touch with a certain radio station, so we need prayer, we need to have the right heart condition, we need knowledge and understanding, and we need association with and instruction from the channel Jehovah is using at this time to be able to receive his holy spirit.
