  But...but...but...who's the "King of the North"?

  Didn't Writing Dept. member Ciro give a speech after 9/11, where he explained the Islamic Terrorists to be the NorthKing?

  Edit: Sorry didn't get that right. This is what he said:

  Look at the map and see how big the Islamic empire is. I was told that it has more than Christendom. So maybe we have been looking at the wrong part of Babylon the Great. It is the most aggressive. It is the one that is irritating the King of the North and the Wild Beast, isn't it? So we have to stay alert, friends.

  The answer to how they can be so certain lies in Lett's speech when he said, "There are many spiritual casualties right now." The WTS must be losing dubs left and right, with a corresponding drop in book sales.
  
  I've never done an analysis of this, but I suspect the WTS's "certainty" is directly proportional to drops in JW numbers. The greater the loss of JWs, the greater the WTS's "certainty" becomes in their effort to stop more from leaving ("SELL those books, damnit!! Don't you know it costs money to run this corporation?").

  God, all of that sounds sooooo familiar! Just the same things repeated and repeated and repeated. Could have been same program 30 years ago.
  
  Two things I noted: One speaker referred to many JWs as not working to save their spirituality. Then another referred to the fact that 'if you really believe it, you'll really live it.'
  
  Most JWs are not really 'living it' in the way these brothers mean. Most are living it as though they 'don't really believe.'
  
  And 'the GB is convinced the end is near!' Wow, I've never heard that before!

  So, in the past, any growth of the WTS was proof that this was God's Visible Organization.

  Now, if the growth stops, this is proof that this is God's Visible Organization, but the
  end is right around the corner. (We've maxed out)

  This will only work for a few years, then there will have to be new spin. They will have to
  say that Jehovah is sparing this old system a little longer because he doesn't want to lose
  even one sheep, the sifting of the wolves continues, let's find that one sheep.
  Something like that.

  Yeah, and my retirement is near too, only about 32 years and I will be 70 and hopefully will be able to take a break from putting in 40 hours a week, if I dont fall over dead before it comes.

  How can people stomach hearing that year after year after year. They must have it mentally tuned out.

  Contentment with your lot in life. I guess alot of people are sick of fighting to make ends meet while still having to keep open 2 nights a week, and at least 1 day for service. Is there something against ambition?

  Wow, Brother Herd is a governing body member, my Mom once cooked a lunch for him and we had to eat in the hall when he was visiting our congregation. He seemed like a nice guy, had a good sense of humor (and I say that because he laughed at my usual slew of dick and fart jokes).

  Its easy to preach sacrifice to people who have to work full time to pay for car insurance, rent, house payments, health insurance, food, kids clothes... when you live in a fully paid apartment in New York with all those things provided and all you have to do is spend your days making dumbass pronouncements like these.

  and once it fails the numbers will drop again. doesn't anyone see a pattern forming with the org? it sickens me.
