The Impact of this Discussion Board in your Present Life

From time to time that question comes into my heart
and mind. All of the information and research that
was done on the Watchtower Society was done
    on-line.

However, this discussion board played its role in
many "revelations" outside of documented on-line
    facts.

How important was it for me

The difference maker between being isolated and
insecure and not 100% sure of myself regarding the
Watchtower Society . And, possibly, being in a con-
    stant depressed state of mind.

How important is it for you?

1.) What if this discussion board did not exist?

2.) What if there was no real way to know that
what you were feeling was right or wrong?

3.) In other words, how important has this
discussion board been, and what sort
of an impact has it had on your life?

Please post your comments so that
all may learn the impact and affect
that this discussion board has had
    in your life.

    Respectfully,

    Richard Matos

*Authors note: I would like to thank
    those individuals who were involved
in making this discussion board poss-
ible and to give many thanks for pro-
viding such a life saving medium
as this discussion board truly is.

1.) What if this discussion board did not exist?
I would have more free time as I am addicted to the board right now. I would probably be absorbed in other activity such as books. Otherwise, I would need an outlet for some of my current anxieties with the congregation. I guess non-JW family would get calls and cards.

2.) What if there was no real way to know that what you were feeling was right or wrong?
I don't quite understand the question. I am feeling release from my JW bonds here. I would find it elsewhere.

3.) In other words, how important has this discussion board been, and what sort of an impact has it had on your life?
I turned in my elder resignation after deciding that this is not the truth, after only lurking on this site, but reading a bunch on other sites. There's more out there. If all the sites were gone, I would have delayed a bit, because I was close to my decision with just the WT Library.

What if this discussion board did not exist?

I've been out of the organization for 23 years. I think I'm about as recovered and healed as I ever will be. I think 23 years ago I would have greatly apprecaited a forum like this. My resources were a few books in a remote section of the bookstore.

2.) What if there was no real way to know that
what you were feeling was right or wrong?

Is there a real way now? Does anybody know if what they are feeling is right or wrong. Who could possibly say with any authority what is right or wrong to think or feel. I think what is wrong or questionable to think is thinking that will put you in opposition to the laws of the society which you live in. Thinking that will cause you to be incarcerated or even have to sacrafice your mortal vessel. Outside of that I say if it feels good do it. To put it another way if you dont hurt anybodyelse than what ever you do or feel is fine.

Or are you trying to say that since all of the people who post here are disenters then disenting could posible be right? I still say if it feels good, do it, as long as it doesnt hurt anybody else. Its your life, not theirs.

I think the second question that I posted needs
    more clarification.

What I meant was: How would you gauge your feelings
about the Watchtower Society without the discussion
board? Would it be easier or harder? Sorry!

    Respectfully,

2.) What if there was no real way to know that

#2 hit it right on the nose for me.....Because of this web site, I found many exJWs were having the same doubts as myself.

1.) What if this discussion board did not exist?

there is courage in numbers. without this board there would be far more solitary sufferers.

2.) What if there was no real way to know that
what you were feeling was right or wrong?

i would continue my life without the organisation only with the thought in the back of my mind that they are right and i would just die in armageddon. i always thought that if the bible was true the wbts was true and they were the only ones who knew the bible. it seriously kept me from moving on.

3.) In other words, how important has this
discussion board been, and what sort
of an impact has it had on your life?

it's a godsend, if ever there was one. i've got a headache right now from reading too much, but i can't seem to concentrate on anything else.

I was fading for years because of doubts....I would never go back to the KH even without this web site....I had conclued in my mind that Jehovah didn't need an earthly organization. But I found the answers here, to the why and why nots.

I survived for 4 years without any help from any ex sites or people, and it was hard. It has educated me and helped free me from my guilt about leaving the org. It has confirmed a lot of things that i thought were wrong in the org. The impact that it has had on my life- i still can`t believe that there are so many ex`s out there who feel the same way as i do, and it is very encouraging that we have had some elders come on and show that they too are having major doubts, and want out. (not all of them are bad!) I do find it can be addictive too, but i think it`s because we know we can come here and be with likeminded people, which confirms that we are not going mad, or that we are evil, just imperfect human beings trying to survive the aftermath of a cult.

This board had a great impact on me when I first came here about 5 or 6 years ago, Today I come here just for fun, maybe post once in awhile, relay some info I might have but the impact is long gone. I have no doubt that the WTBS is a cult and they will never be able to fool me again.
