I agree we can not sit idley by and let a bunch of thugs intimidate the US and the President has a big problem internationally. However I do believe diplomacy must be exhausted with the input of the EU and Russia And China. I believe China is the key player in all this. Why are sitting so quietly on the sidelines?
What will Pres. G. Bush do now?

Whichever one he has decided is now the evildoer. Though likely whichever one it is harder to trump up a reason for. If you have a good reason you can always attack later, but when it's all smoke and mirrors you have to strike while the iron is hot.

The real question is, What made these "bad guys" react like this in the first place?
George Bush made North Korea bad - Kim Il Sung was made bad by George W. Bush

He could make another shit-list of "evil" nations as a part of his winning policy. That's sure to show those Clinton-lovers a thing or two about diplomacy.

Relations have been bad with NK for over 50 years - it is hardly George Bush's fault. Also they are being deliberatley provocative.
Iran's president is also being a sh#t stirrer by calling for Israel to be wiped off the map.
This is harldy the fault of the USA if people choose to be provocative
the world is going mad.

My take?
By annoucing that they had nuclear weapons in 2002 the North Koreans effectively limited the options to two. Sanctions, or nukes. Since the only way Bush will be able to use the nuclear option is in response to a first strike of some sort by North Korea, sanctions are all that Bush and the rest of the world has left to deal with him. I noticed that Japan is going ahead with more sanctions.
Clearly negociations are useless since Kim Il Jong has demonstrated he cannot be trusted to keep his word. Remember that in 1994 he promised not to pursue nuclear weaponry in echange for 5 billion dollars in goods from us. and yet, he went ahead and made the nukes anyway. We are now headed for a very ugly situation since only a credible threat of nuclear retaliation will keep him in line and the world seems disinclined to permit that. So Kim thinks he is going to be able to bully the world into allowing him to occupy south Korea because nobody will have the guts to risk the horror of the use of nuclear weapons. That is his endgame, the reunification of the Korean peninsula under his terms. The only chance we have to head that off is to demonstrate to him that we will not be bullied around by his threats, the time for talking is past. By imposing severe restrictions and sticking by them will we have any credibility with the North Korean Government.
Of course, that carries the risk that he might just be crazy enough to use his own nukes, but we really have no other choice now as I see it.

Some may wish to call him a clown. But what is the president to do when faced with these bad guys?
Which "bad guys?" From where I sit, there is nothing good about President Bush; he is the worst president of my lifetime and hated in most parts of the world. Indeed, the real "bad guy" is George Bush.

What I like is Bush's comments that he doesn't want to invade North Korea without first getting all the facts.
Hmmm ... wonder why he didn't do that with Iraq.

Well, accept it or not [a mere 6 years too late], this man was elected twice to be the President. And just how is his being president related to a nut job in two separate countries who want to build nuclear bombs, and use them?
Please scenario for me how it would have been different and less grave, with someone else, say Mr Gore, sitting in the oval office. I am constantly amazed that the madness of the world is laid at the feet of those struggling to address said madness. Did all this badness come to germination due to Bush? In your opinion, he is the bad guy. So what would you have the world do? Wait for the next president [2 years hence] while we sit around and bitch that the current one is 'bad'? Counterproductive could not be used better in a sentence than that.

What will likely happen to the lion if he wanders out of his territory into a city?
Bad analogy! The world is much more complex that. All countires are intwined with trade and are in each others territory all the time. It is the fanatics who want it their way or NO WAY, that is the problem, on both sides of the fence.
