Does the Watchtower Society show the bait and hide the hook when it comes to being open and honest with newly interested ones?

In other words, do they make themselves appear to have all the answers, the most righteous crowd and the only truth from God until a person is hooked by the 'Fear Factor' that unless they conform to Watchtower doctrines they will surely be destroyed by God at Armageddon or, if they decide the JW's are not for them they will never be resurrected should they die before Armageddon?

Absolutely. I became a witness in 1973, the year I graduated from college. I THOUGHT I was hooking up with some people that liked to study the Bible from a non-sectarian viewpoint. Then I came to believe that they had all the answers. Then I was told the world was going to end in 1975. Besides, I now had a lot of good friends that were witnesses. The dark side doesn't show up until you're so far in, getting out takes a lot of courage. I think most people find it easier to just keep going with it.

You don't learn what is really expected of a jw until you are one. Let's face it, if they told interested ones about all the rules, they wouldn't get any new members, apart from brainwashed 10 year old kids of currnt ones.

    This looks like a marriage.

They try to look better than what they really are, until it's too late...

Some doctrines that I found JWs would skip over or tell people, "it will be more clear as your Bible knowledge increases."

    Blood transfusions

    Disfellowshipping

How to explain 607/1914 doctrine and be understood

    Honesty,

    Yes.

blondie: "it will be more clear as your Bible knowledge increases"

An innocent seeming euphemism for "you will learn to agree after you believe that everything the WTS teaches this week is the absolute truth."

    Respectfully,

I definately would'nt have got baptised if i new then what i do now!I remember studying with my friend and for the first few months whenever i asked about the blood issue she'd answer oh its too deep we'd better leave that until youv'e progressed a bit more, by the time she explained it i still wasn't right about it but she'd been my best mate for years and get on atme to get baptised so i thought i'd better not let her down. Of course if a new one mentions 1975 for example we all know the bog standard answer, i've even repeated it parrot fashion in the past and didn't have a clue what the truth of it was i just believed them cos it was meant to be the only place with real truth LOL!

Do the Witnesses do a bait and switch? You bet! It's started right at the door when they hide who they're with, saying they're Bible Students. The bait and switch never ends. They smile and offer ministerial servant privileges and then turn into complainers on the back side.

They offer the elder jobs like they are great and then put the volunteer elders through the wringer. Only the mean type like my dad like the job and stay with it.
