    Honesty,

It isn't opinion. It is fact.

How do you think they get away with the insanity and death?

Good Grief, Yes. Take a good look at the Society's new book on (supposedly) "What the Bible Really Teaches". The book encourages

getting baptised without a single word about disfellowshipping. Talk about fraud! Suppose a bank or credit card company did anything

similar to this. Would they be hauled before Congress or put in jail?

But wait! That's not all! Consider the ongoing fraud of encouraging Witness parents to "raise children in the truth". Does the

Watchtower ever tell you what percentage actually "stay faithful"? Why not? Because that admission would be devastating to the

    organization.

And then there's the continuing "Armageddon is Soon!" fraud that's been going on for over 120 years now. When does the dishonesty

    ever end?

That's why I could no longer go out in service. I would feel like a hypocrite only telling people half the story. Encouraging them to examine their current religion and ask revealing questions about it, knowing that they wouldn't be able to ask the same kind of questions about JW's once they got baptized. How could I encourage them to do something I couldn't even do (with out repercussions)?

Let's not forget that there are questions all baptismal candidates must answer. These clearly spell out all the sanctions facing those who deviate from the direction of the F&DS. Of course by that time the student is in his first session with two of the authority figures in the congregation who are intimidating and congenial at the same time. Then it is that they are informed, but it is too late. They are on their way emotionally to accept all the crap they are served.

Put out the fire before then if you have a chance!

    I cry shenanigans!

"it will be more clear as your Bible knowledge increases."

Ever hear this one? " It's like a jig saw puzzle you can't see the picture yet but slowly it will all come together"

The elder who told me this is now divorced and disfellowshipped, adultery with a sister way younger than him. Hi Joe V.

They definitely skim over some of those "deeper" subjects in the beginning. I know the gal who studied with me often made the comment that I would understand better as I became a more "spiritual" person. I also know she sincerely believed this.

What's funny is that she also told me (when I expressed distress about seemingly good non-Witnoids and their innocent little children being destroyed by Jah) that a person could be very sincere in their beliefs but that didn't mean that they weren't sincerely wrong (and it was up to us to enlighten them ::sigh::). Pot, meet kettle.

for the person who does no outside research, this tactic has been successful.

they meet a nice person who tolerates their visits, they agree to a bible study, they are shown the "promises" and other positive aspects of the teachings and when it's time for the harder stuff, the person is led to believe they have learned enough to be accountable. they don't even need to have been to a meeting to reach that point.

It's started right at the door when they hide who they're with

And even why they are there. "No of course not, we're not here to convert you. We just wanted to encourage you to look to the Bible..."

I've heard exactly the same thing from Mormons. Funny how everyone who knocks on your door does so purely out of the goodness of their heart, and never for their own personal ends. Even salesmen will deny that they are selling anything - they always just want to offer you a free quote on something.

It is like those movies that have everyone acting normal, then you look threw their window on night when they do not know it and you see they are aliens that eat humans. By the time you figure it out and get to deep into the plot, you end up spending your life running and wondering how they hide such horrific acts without people knowing. Yet they did.
