Is there a God that CARES ?

I was born with believeing parents, so automatically, I assumed that there was a God because my parents told me so.

When I was young, I prayed before going to bed and said thank-you for all that I had.

Later in life, I realized that what I had came from my parents, not necessarily God.

Today, I still believe in God, but I wonder if he cares.

There is something worse than no God

It's a God that doesn't care and doesn't answer prayers.

When you look at the world as a whole, and see all the suffereing and injustice, you don't ask yourself if there is a God, you just wonder if he CARES.

I believe he cares. I have had many people, non Christian as well as Christian, praying for my daughter, her sons, Andy and me this past year. It hasn't always been easy and there were times we wanted to give up on helping Carrie and her sons, but we have seen much evidence that God cares and does indeed listen to prayers. I've also learned that faith is a gift that God gives us, not one he demands from us.

I started the summer of 2005 praying this prayer (Given to Andy by his mother) desperately:

"Trust God. Let nothing disturb you. Let nothing frighten you. All things pass. God never changes."

I yelled at God a lot because of the suffering of my grandsons and daughter and I told him it wasn't fair for still another generation of children in my family to suffer as the past few have. I begged him to help break the cycle. You wouldn't believe the things he has done to answer my passionate pleas. But before that? I believed in God/Great Spirit, but I wasn't sure he cared either.

I know from experience that God does not have a set formula for answering prayers. I am sure that when the Tsumani that hit Indonesia and other counrties a few years ago that they had a lot of people praying for their life. About 250,000 died in a few hours. Why did some live and some die? I would assume that everyone was praying for their life when they were swallowed up by the ocean. Six million died in the Holocaust and again the prayers of the victims seemed to go unanswered. We have been taught that God knows our situation and has the power to alter events to out liking, but their are plenty of examples that seem to indicate otherwise.

I care about my kids but I can't stop them experiencing life. I also get annoyed when I'm treated as some wishing well with a magic wallet.

Yes there is but humans have up to now failed to avail themselves of many interesting possibilities. If mankind draws near to God in a heartfelt way all problems will be solved. A few decent isolated persons here and there doing the right things can't achieve much.

The Germans were stopped. Hitler committed suicide. The concentration camps were liberated. Evil exists and good eventually over comes it. I once had a customer of mine tell me, "The world belongs to Satan, God can't intervene unless we ask him to." I find that idea interesting. Mother Val, our priest told me that all will be reconciled in heaven, no matter how sad or bad things are here.

JH I am beginning to look at it this way. Do I need a god who cares in my life? Can I be content with just knowing some higher being (I call it a prime cause) created human life with the intelligence to go forth and recreate and make a life for themselves? Can I acknowledge that I have been given a chance to make my own life as I design it without a sugar-daddy god to thank and or curse for every good or bad thing which happens in my life?

I am the only one accountable for my life. These are just thoughts I've been mulling over lately as I've been on the other side of the issue of believing, faith and prayer in a god which as you wonder (as well as millions of others) does this higher being care? Is it up to us to make our lives happen?

As I plod along in life lately with this idealism I do find I'm more content with knowing it's all on me to make it or break it, I am accountable for my life no matter how or why I got here. I'm not as angry at god nor as anxious wondering why I somehow don't measure up to him/her enough to be heard. I also no longer participate in mundane things trying to appease [a] god. I feel free from the burden of living to please others and have profound joy in my life now.

There is a lot I disagree with the Witnesses on, one of the things I do agree with them is that God does care and that he is without fail going to re-claim His earth and all those desiring to live by His law.

I truly believe the War On Terror is the prelude to Babylon the Great's destruction and soon after Armageddon.

And I believe George W is his spokes person.
