That Faithful and discreet slave thing was just one of Jesus parables... and as for cross linking it with the 144,000 number mentioned in Revelation, thats definitely a stretch. Besides the new testament in numerous verses state that all ...ALL christians must be in union with Jesus and that if you are not then they wont see the kingdom of god. Their reasoning is that the new testament was written exclusively for this annointed slave class.. how convenient and with no proof to justify that other than that they say its the truth... new testament was written only for annointed christians because there are only 144,000 of them that the words apply to.. circular reasoning at its best! As far as I am concerned the whole theology of a slave class made up of 144,000 individuals is false.

    True,

    Welcome to the board!

Can you supply us with a solid scriptural link showing that the "slave" of Matthew 24:45-47 has to be the same as the 144,000 from Revelation 7 / Revelation 14?

PS "The Watchtower says" doesn't count as a scriptural link!

Luke 12:41 talks about Jesus' words as being an illustration or parable.

I found the term FDS very ambiguous, impossible to pin down any individual. To me it seemed that the process of discovering scriptural truth was the same for each individual not looking to a group of people. I don't see where Paul ran to a GB to determine if the resurrection had occurred already and some Christians were ruling as kings.

You seem to have the same IP address as several of those I mentioned, and I suppose you will be claiming that you are the fds soon?

On topic, I think Jesus was speaking in parables when he talked about the fds as well.

There are some translations/versions of the Bible including the Emphatic Diaglott, which show the possibility of the faithful slave becoming evil, and getting impatient with the master's return, and begins to beat his fellow slaves. Does that sound familiar--as in the WTS calling the Bible Students (i.e. Russell's followers) the "evil slave" class? ...and still considers them that way.

A great topic Minimus. The whole FDS concept is another proof positive that Watchtowerism is a 100% man-made hooey religion with not an ounce of "Divine Inspiration" behind it. As an oldtimer back in the late 1960's and 70's I and all other JWs were emphatically taught that the real earthly leadership behind the Watchtower Society was the whole of the remaining 144,000 anointed class and this surviving "remnant" were the FDS. The FDS included all of the annointed scattered throughout the earth in the far flung congregations and not just those at the Bethal headquarters. We were told that these remaining members of 144,000 guided the dogma and activities of the Watchtower Society through their direct contact with the holy spirit which communicated Jehovah's will through Jesus to the earthly Organization. This mysterious spirit guided leadership was an awesom proof to those of us who made up the Great Crowd that this was truely Jehovah's Organization and not just another man-made cult because we didn't follow a single man and his opinions in a leadership role like Armstrong did for the Church of God but rather we had a united spirit directed leadership conveying our instructions through numerous annointed members (who were BACK THEN mostly ancient faithfuls who had been in the religion since Russel's day which gave them an added air of authority, respect, and mysticism).

The real leadership of the Watchtower Society who taught us this FDS model knew it was completely FALSE. There was no mystical communication from the scattered annointed guiding the Watchtower Society and there had never been any in the past either. The entire system had always been pushed forward by a complete dictatorship of one or two leaders and their centrally based staffs at headquarters. Russel, Rutherford/Franz, and Knorr/Franz were totally responsible for EVERYTHING the JWs believed. The anonymous authorship of all of the Society's publications after Rutherford's death was a trick designed to make the rank and file think they were the result of a group (annointed) effort hiding the FACT that since Rutherford's time nearly every bit of "New Light" published came exclusively from the fevered imagination of Fred Franz (most especially in the 1950's, 60's,and 70's). Bethal insiders knew this was the case and never told the rank & file. One of the biggest lies of the Watchtower Society which really was after all just another man-made cult based upon a select few imperfect human leaders and their opinion and conjecture. The FDS never existed as it was defined by the Watchtower itself in modern times. A complete flim-flam. It should be clear by now in 2006 that nearly all of the "real" annointed (once again by the Watchtower's own definitions) are long since dead and therefore this goofy FDS dogma makes even less sense today.

I believe that if a JW can clearly see that the FDS doctrine is absurd, it can shake their senses to stop believing!
