Sounds to me like predestination, something the wts condemns. Then of course the light always gets brighter

Apparently the author of this book, which was NOT Russell by the way, was trying to compare Russell to Jesus. It makes sense as after Russell died, the bible students applied the title to him of "faithful servant" no doubt to prove they had the only truth as opposed to all other Christian religions. They used to "faithful servant" facade to try and say that Jesus is only dispensing truth to the person in that position and all other Christians must go thru him. This is where the current WT two classes originated.

The WT (Rutherford) then changed their views later on - after most of the original BS left the tower and when they saw it would benefit the organization better to make a class or group of men "that faithful servant", thereby saying it was not only Russell but other "anointed" as well.

Most bible students groups today, which broke off from the WT during Rutherfords tyrancy reign still believe that Russell is and was the only "faithful servant". Of couse 99% of all other Christians disagree that the term "faithful servant" applies only to one person.

BTW: As far as in print form - Russell himself NEVER applied that term to himself at all. Whether he did so in private is a matter of specualtion unless someone alive today can prove otherwise (by a recording for instance) and I highly doubt that the man did apply it to himself. I have had many BS tell me he knew he was the "faithful servant" but was too humble to say it out loud. I think this is just their interpretation of things that makes it possible for them to continue to worship this mortal man. And they should beware unless they may place Russell in Jesus place like most JW's do today with the "society". Lilly
