I think that if you feel you have no choice but to knock on doors... why not add a little extra something to your message? I think creativity is called for.

To the householder who answers, say, "Hello, I'm a Jehovah's Witness and I have decided it is best to be blunt. I want to warn you that if you don't join our church, you will die in Armageddon with 99.9 percent of humanity."

Add a written freeminds.org (or even a label) to tracts that you leave.

Figure out something at least a little daring and a good excuse if you are caught. They'll really wish you wouldn't be in FS if you do this right. Then, of course, come back here and let us know what you did.

Why? I plan to fade. As a 20 year old (I might get a good paid internship soon though) with an elder dad who has book study meetings in the house, I can't get out of it. I get woken up, and if I try some bs excuse like a headache or whatever, they don't believe me. So when I do go out, I try not to hand out any literature. I just say "I'd like to read a message to you from the Bible" and I read John 17:3 or something similar and I thank the person for their time. My conscience won't let me place any borg bs in people's hands.

It depends on the elders at the kh you attended. The elders at mine tend to hound faders a lot, (though they left me alone for over 5 years), but in some congs they aren't so keen.

I already lost my wife of 27 years due to my "apostasy" and do not want to lose my older kids by being DF or DA, so the game continues until a fade due to a move.

In the mean time you just warm up a seat at the KH but don't forget it is still a good place to laugh and associate.

The nice thing right now, you are not blindly accepting all the lies as you were before

I can understand, I spent several years doing a token hour to avoid trouble with the elders. However most of it was sitting in cars whilst people did their RV's. The few times I went to the doors I made sure my presentation was so lame no one ever took a magazine. I was effectively slowing down the witnessing work.

I know that the time will come when i will be confronted and have to "explain" myself.

Go to the silentlambs website and print out a handful of the news release's about the Watchtower having to open it's confidential pedofile records.

Next discreetly scatter a few of them at your KH parking lot at night (bathroom break during service meeting?). You find one and tell the Elders later that you are upset and need time to think about this, etc. Plenty of others find them and have issues/questions ,too. The Elders are too busy trying to keep the KH together to worry about one fader with a good excuse.

I really planned a slow fade, but it's like a slow avalanche- once it starts, it picks up speed.

this is what happened to me. One day I was in, and before I knew it I was out. I was regular, and once I started reading this board I have been to only one meeting this year and about 4 last year. I could not stomach it anymore. My mom is in, otherwise I would not care.

In order to fade, they have to keep up the facade slowly but surely doing less and less. You can't just drop the ball and be left alone... unless you move.

    r.

I started fading by missing all the meetings and not going out in FS. I went from 10+ hours a month to 0 and went from attending all the meetings to NONE all at once. When the Gestapo showed up 2 weeks later and demanded answers I just told them I was depressed, which was true. I then asked them to help me with my depression in any way they could but that meetings and FS weren't the answer because I came home from them even more depressed. After 3 or 4 visits they left me alone for about 2 years until I started reading different Bibles and the wife ratted me out.

As long as you don't say anything negative about the cult or let them know you are researching there's not a lot they can do to you except label you as 'WEAK' and that usually helps keep visits from other dubs down to a minimum in itself.

Ok now a question for everyone out there...

How do you "JW" people sleep at night? You brainwash good people into beleiving everything that you say. How can a person whom was raised catholic and for 70 plus years that could not not even stand the thought of becoming one of you now be so freakin devoted? To pass on their first borns 40th birthday without even a HAPPY BIRTHDAY dear child of mine...after never missing a birthday. You people do realise that without birthdays NONE of you would be here!!! I am so freakin SICK of the hypocrites that you all are it is not even funny!!!

I look forward to how you respond to this one.

Give me some very good reasons for your behaviour and then I will think twice about taking your fancy little magazine at my door step.

Did you realize that this site consists mostly of ex-JWs? I'm afraid that you are preaching to the choir. Very few people on this site even attend meetings. Those that do are in the clear minority.

As for those few individuals that must remain in the org; you may have noticed that they stated that they do not make any efforts to "convert" anyone, or even conduct Bible studies for that matter. They do everything that they can to speak to as few as possible.

    You then wrote:

Hmmmm. Now, why would you even think about taking magazines from individuals that you have already decided are hypocrites? I don't think that you really would; in fact, it seems to me like you were just trying to be glib. You may have noticed from the above posts, that those few individuals who do go door to door are not very interested in leaving literature in anyone's hands. They have already stated that their conscience will not allow them to leave literature with people. Why would these people rush in and try to give you a rationale for you taking one of the magazines when they already stated that they do not want to give out magazines? If these people are really hypocrites; as you so eloquently stated; why should they bother trying to convince you to take literature?
