I remember a congregation being split up and spread to other congregations in Illinois when i was there...I want to say it was Streamwood. The entire elder body was disbanned and the people shunted off in all directions.

Nobody ever told us what actually happened there. Would love to know.

I remember too when I was in another congregation that there were two congregations sharing a hall and they "rearranged" the people in the two congregations with another outside congregation and totally messed up the moral of all three by dividing up life long friends, families....and we were told that the Society was doing this so we would "widen out" and were getting too comfortable with only being around the same brothers all the time. Boy the hell that raised. And we were TOLD what congregation to go to and there was no arguing about it.

    I'll vouch for that one!

I was basically told "too bad" when I mentioned that switching to the new congregation an hour from my home rather than staying at the local KH with my getting-to-be-friends would present hardships for my family.

I must say that my former PO raised holy hell with the CO and the new PO when he found out that this statement basically caused me to go inactive.

Now very very sporadic. Will never trust them again.

My former Congregation still has about the same amount of people. There is a matter of concern with them. The average age continues to rise. When I attended over 5 years ago, they was constantly having local needs talks about young ones reaching out for more privilages. The problem was, there are very few young ones to reach out.

This is just a rough guess, but I bet the average age in somewhere around 50.

    Such a loving arrangement...

Our Circuit was split into six sections in the 1980's. It had grown so much they needed room for parking and the Ass Hall was over full. WIthin the last year or so they take the six sections back to 3 sections again so that the Ass Hall would be full during the Assemblies. No one was coming and the Hall was always woefully empty. Not enough donations etc. So now its back full again and there are fewer Asses held for the circuit.

I hated it so full. Couldn't pee for hours...

These elders/COs/DOs apparently have no problem "stumbling" scores of r&f JWs in spite of the Biblical injunction. But if a r&f JW so much as has a drink at a party, they're vilified because they may be "stumbling" some one.

Happened here at a neighboring town and the brother and sister were reassigned between neighboring Halls. What made it bad in the late 90's the congregation was owned by a local brother and the Society asked him to sing the ownership over too them. He did as he was asked because he was a faithful. Then four years ago the Society came in and closed the doors, they sold the Hall kept the money, gave nothing to the original owner they swindled the property form. This caused a local crises. the Elder that use to owned the Hall has quit and several other family's have done the same.

As soon as they can he will be DF'd I guarantee it./

It's amazing. I live in the third fastest growing county in America yet the local congregation is the same size it was ten years ago. No decrease but while the towns in this area have literally doubled in size, the kingdom hall parking lot still has the same number of cars.

In the past when I lived in suburbs that were bursting in population, it was normal to see a congregation split 3 or 4 times within a few years. I don't see this anymore.

Makes me wonder how "honest" the WT is about it's annual numbers.
