In my opinion it maybe because their English . It seems the same stand over tactics are used here and predominantly by English migrant Elders who most often are short in stature. Lots of them here in Adelaide. And before you judge me ,I'm an english migrant too.

in all this time, I have never seen anything like this happen at a meeting. Never saw anyone actually speak up. The closest I ever got to seeing something like it was this guy slammed his bible shut so hard during a public talk, everyone could hear it. The bible was one of those ginormous ones the suck-ups always brought to the meetings.... their "study" bibles. One of those babies slammed shut during a quiet talk by an angry old man really gets noticed.

Once in my cong one elder was announcing about a big upgrade to the hall, new chairs, etc etc. Would cost money so the cong was "being" asked about it. Another elder in the audience piped up and said "Well Armageddon is so close now, what sense does it make to be spending good money on doing the hall up??"

Elder on the platform said "Umm, err, I'll speak to you about it after the meeting"..

BTW this was 30 years ago now! Those damn new chairs are well and truly stuffed now!

So they had a rotation of 10 brothers and they took off all 10 brothers? My goodness, did they all have Tourette's? Or did they all stutter constantly?

Sheer idiocy. And the guy who calls them out gets blamed, as usual. Somehow I don't think the guys running your hall have earned their triple honor yet...

This kind of charade is not suprising. An organization that has a fetish for arbitrary rules and regulations tends to breed followers who have the same fetish. The Watchtower society loves rules, edicts, formalities, and guidelines. They are the champions of micro-management. Is it any wonder that their followers exhibit this same retardation?

    Pope,

For one moment I thought you were in the congregation that I was sentenced to re; chairs.

When they moved into a new building they converted it into a KH

As the elders wanted to please the CO at his next visit they purchased a completely new lot of chairs putting it first to the congregation, I put up my hand and asked the question.

Why are we spending £1,500 pounds on chairs when our disabled brothers are stuck down stairs not being able to enjoy!! The company of the rest of the Bros/sisters up stairs (that is the way the elders planned the layout of the building, they had to sit downstairs and watch a portable TV set of what was going on. (by the way there was not much wrong with the old chairs)

This forced a show of hands the chairman put his hand in the air in favour of buying the chairs, this obviously swayed many bros. To vote accordingly ,

The result was a three way split with a slight majority in favour of buying.

Visiting witnesses couldn’t believe what they heard.

This is agape love really working through the Brothers & Sisters.!!!

I think it's pitifull that women, who might be excellent readers, are not allowed this "priviledge".
JW women are only worthy of cleaning the toilet stool.
I lost the priviledge of cleaning toilets a few times. lisa

Similar to the above experiences of KH getting new chairs etc.

This was told me by a JW I met.

They had one of those "Special Talks" on a Sunday. The "end is near" its "urgent" we preach etc etc.

Then he said at Service Meeting the following Tuesday. Local needs item, we need to refurbish Kingdom Hall. They decided at the time £10,000 was needed to be spent. The KH was only ten years old, everything still looked good as far as I knew.

This I later learnt rose to £65,000 - I wish I knew what they spent that on?

Do they think that at Armageddon that the Kingdom Halls will be untouched?

I did some reading at the book study too. The elder/ms who was leading the study was the only penis person in the room at the time. Because he was present though, I had to wear a headcovering (TM). Probably a dish cloth or something.
