What an opportunity!
The "trick" in talking to JW's is not so much the questions you ask (Because there are so many good ones) but in having calm, polite good answers to the standard JW repertoire of excuses, rationalizations, false analogies, false dilemmas, bifurcations and subtle shifts in word definitions that comes out of their mouths without thinking

Should start out with the history of jw and ask about CTR. CTR was involved with several other religions before he found this one. Ask how that is connected to Adam and Eve since they claim to be originated from way back. Compare CTR's beginning with other religions' beginning.

CTR didn't start this religion. He didn't start a religion at all. He started a movement (Bible Students, who still exist today, still teaching Russell's doctrine).
It didn't become a religion until Joe Rutherford turned it into one, after claiming (truthfully) that "religion is a snare and a racket." At least he told them up front that they were involved with a snarer and a racketeer. You gotta give it to a guy who has the moxie to tell that to the people he's snaring.

Use some quote showing the WTS is full of crap. If you read from the Bible they say that you are twisting it. If you read from the publications they can't argue you have misread it when it clearly contradicts itself. You know, 1914 not being the presence till 1943 etc. Showing how misleading the statements were is helpful.

Before you go in work out your primary and secondary aims.
If your friend is tempted by them, given that he's had several weeks of study, you should probably focus on stuff that he will understand, rather than the nuances of WTS subliminal dogma. They already made their choices in life, and are thus only a secondary target. If you happen to make them think, rather than merely look foolish, you will have gained additional interest on the time invested. First things first!

Yes, I am very much aware of original group still exit and I believe this It is true that jw religion was not an official religion until Rutherford but still the fact remains that it is started out with CTR. I think it is a good point to point out to any jw that it was not originated from very beginning of human couple as jws are claiming. I don't think any religion start out with any specific name but start out with good intention to change(reform) from parent group or orthodox of somekind. I think Catholic is a prime example of it. How many religions are formed form this one alone? Definition of religion is:the service and worship of God or the supernaural ;devotion to a religious faith; a personal set or institutionalized system of religious beliefs etc....at least from one source of dictionary. Anytime a group is expressing service to God is a religion. CTR was trying to interpret the Bible to figure out the prophecy of Christ coming and anticipating it. If he was not a believer of God and sharing than what was he doing. It was more than a movement. At least it is my understanding of what I learned. The Bible Student that still practice CTR teaching is not a movement anymore but another religion like rest of them.

honesty: i read most of the thread. go straight for the throat. walk your friend right out of how they lie. don't waste time. let your friend know before hand you are going to trump them. and they are going to act liked brainwashed assholes. before you start make sure they commit to at least one hour. no walking away. tie them to a chair if you have to. keep them on your topics and ride the living shit out of them for that pre arranged hour. you will do fine. plant some seeds. and show your friend they are NOTHING. punish them . have fun. john
