so how will the camera surveillance network come into play when we get to the stage when those liberties are totally eroded? when habeas corpus is gone, wouldnt the network be very useful to locate and detain certain people (by using face recognition technology) the government didn't like such as those people concerned about 'liberties'?
The police force currently used for the protection of citizens would be used in those circumstances to punish innocents and remove dissenters. Census records and electoral registers would be used for similar purposes. The guns the military use to defend the country would be turned against its own citizens. And yes, the cameras would also be used to monitor people in ways that they currently do not. The solution is not the abolition of any or all of these institutions or systems, but ensuring that liberty is not eroded and that the government can never have enough power to turn against its own people.
