    Thanks for your replies.

First of this was ment as a question, not a statement. I am just trying to understand how someone can read the bible (NT) and yet have so little ephasis on jesus. As I have feared its because they are not actually reading the bible.

The next question is then, if you can get them to read the bible. Will it make a difference, or wil they just make it fit their pre-concieved doctrine.

On a personal not I read the bible after years of being atheistic, and encountering some tough evengelical arguments. So I read it just to see what it actually said. I was amazed at the brutality of the old testament and left confused by the NT but clearly it is a book centered on jesus.

Wrong, and wrong. But kind of right. AuldSoul put it well.

JWs do indeed put a lot of emphasis on Jesus in their doctrines - there is simply no denying that because he is central to their core doctrines. However he is not emphasised in the way that some others believe that he should be.

And JWs do indeed read the bible. However, their bible reading is little more than storybook reading, because any real study of the content is filtered through the Watchtower Society, and any serious analysis that conflicts with the leadership is very quickly dismissed or not considered at all.

    Jeffro:
Again, while I mostly agree with you, we'll have to agree to disagree on the following point:

he is central to their core doctrines

Jehovah is central to their doctrines. Jesus is somewhere between being right at his side (as a mostly silent partner, or an Armageddon thug), through peripheral, to outrightly ignored, IMHO.

According to Jehovah's Witness teachings, only the 144,000, who are mostly dead, are Christians in that the Greek Bible and the New Covenant ONLY applies to them. All the rest are the great unwashed who are "Christian" only by association with the Watch Tower Society.

The unwashed can receive second hand Christian blessings. Those blessings are printed on pulp paper and delivered twice a month.
