i agree min- they do indeed make me irrate. The ignorance is what really gets to me, the lack of open heartedness, the lack of developing mind. The thing is tho- if i get too mad about it, I am the one that suffers for it. So i try to do as the above posters say- stop letting it affect me- letting go of the attachment to those that may have hurt me, its not easy but it's what must be done.

I think at least for me to keep my anger under control is to let it go because when virtually your entire family is in the borg. when you see them and their self-riteous attitude it only brings on hurt and torment. When I say them I mean non-family I mean those you recognize as jw's. whether former friends or strangers you notice out preaching.

Yup, Min, I hear ya.....they are completely self-righteous, and condescending....at least my brother's wife certainly is. Her opinion, is the ONLY right one, no-one else's opinion matters. They have the TRUE religion, and everyone else is going to die...blah, blah, blah....I get sick of it too. My parents are almost as bad, but not quite. They do tell me every now and then, that I "need to get back to the kingdom hall, armageddon is coming".

I think we have to cherish what relatives we do have, and make sure our children are happy in this life, right now. Forget those relatives that bring us down, always "raining on our parades". If only they would take a REAL GOOD look at themselves in a mirror.....they'd see a very unhappy, depressed person, who is SUPPOSED to be a happy, contented JW, who is going to be in paradise. You'd think the promise of a paradise would make them happy? Wouldn't you???

Garybuss had the very best comment on these feelings ever...just view them (jw delusionals) as people who happen to be mentally ill.

I was in a restaurant this summer and a whole table of about 10 people next to me were yucking it up- then I heard the word "service" and then I thought I heard "truth"- my whole dinner was ruined as I watched them socializing. Most of them looked like older single pioneer types. I had to ask before I left- "are you guys JW's?" Yes, they were. I shouldn't have been upset as none of them had done anything to me personally, but I was still irritated. They were guilty by association, I guess.

If I had been thinking, I should have told them "I'm an apostate and I'm listening to every word you say". Then I could have ruined , their dinner instead.

I'll put it this way: my mom and aunt have been ill and in the hospital and I see and hear of the condescendingness they and others have toward anyone that no longer ascribes to their baloney. Not so much my mother, but I know it gets to her that her family has "left the Truth".
