It is midnight and I have just got out of bed......................no sleep for me tonight ...........again

I am so tired. I suffer from insomnia like a lot of posters here but when I do sleep, a couple of times a week at worse or once every couple of months I have night terrors.

*These only started when I found out the truth about the org, so I can only conclude its stress. Now this doesnt help when your in the middle of a nightmare. When I talk to my family or friends I can see they are starting to think im a bit strange, I wake up screaming or fighting thinking someone is trying to do me harm. Or I get sleep paralysis, where im half asleep and half awake , cant move and think someone is in bed with me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im on my own tonight and im really scared to go to bed, last night I slept with the light on, thats not working tonight, I am so tired and unfortunately this brings on a night terror, so i dont want to go to sleep

Does anyone else suffer with this...............it really is getting worse...............more frequent and more intense

Please dont tell me to see a doctor , they really cant help.......................and yes I have cut out caffeine and alcohol

Vitty, I dunno for sure, but what I do when I don't want to go to sleep for one reason or another is.....I stay up and fight off sleep. I try to stay awake until I'm so loggy that I sleep the sleep of the dead. Nothing bothers me then.

Hugs and hopes for a solution that'll work for you!

Vitty I really feel for you. I have insomnia most nights sleep 1 or 2 hours at a time then up for a while never 8 hours of uninterupted sleep. I got one of those white noise boxes that play different sounds like the ocean sounds or of a calming brook flowing and that seems to help never have I had night terrors though, nightmares once in a blue moon. Try something to quiet your mind, I know sometimes I am thinking of 3 or 4 things at the same time. Also maybe some Ambien from your doctor to help you sleep. I do wish you well and success.

I have had chronic insomnia since my stepdad molested me. Plus, in nursing, I have had alot of patients that suffer from that, especially when under stress. What FINALLY worked for me is a "self-hypnosis" tape. It's like a relaxation tape, but better. It relaxes you alot. I had to go thru several before I found one that works for me.

I have had sleep problems for the past 10 years. I learned that I snore, and I wake up many times during the night, when I finally get to sleep.

Or, I go to sleep and then wake up, wide awake. I usually get up and do something to pass the time, until I think I can sleep.

Watching TV puts me to sleep really fast, but I will wake up later.

My mother has had insomnia as long as I can remember.

I think for me, it started at menopause, and I am pretty sure I have sleep apnea. Sometimes I wake up gasping for breath, having dreamed I was drowning, or that someone was smothering me. It's terrible.

I bought Breathe Right nose strips today. I hope they help.

I suggest you try taking some calcium supplements at bedtime. It is good for the nervous system and can help with sleep problems.

I'm not talking about "relaxation" tapes. These are "self-hypnosis". Have you tried this type. There's a BIG difference!!

I wonder if ts hereditary, because my 19 year old son is the same and hes suffered this for years too

We are now both wide awake, hes got college in the morning and its no joke. Hes really tired by lunch time. He actually fell asleep during a class and his teacher phoned my husband up quite worried, my hubby had to explain he sometimes doesnt sleep for 2 nights on the run and then gets really tired. I dont know if ppl who dont suffer this, understand how debilitating it is

Try and google "self-hypnosis" tapes, or ask your local music store.

I understand your agony all too well. I still will go 48 hours with no sleep. Or even longer, then finally crash. But these tape have made a difference in my sanity!!
