I have an IDEA....an "Apostate smokeout"

Ok....Maybe this is stupid, but I was thinking of all of us setting up a day to go to the meeting and all that are here and hiding, or just lurk here could participate and we could set up an underground support system. It would just entail a simple gesture at the meeting....like holding a tissue, or some toilet paper. (Like you had a runny nose) If there are elder lurkers and they tried to "catch" someone doing this...what could they say.."Why are you holding a tissue????????" Talk about paranoid!

What I was thinking is I would have a purse full of my number and web sites for someone to check out and if anyone was "flying" the white "flag" I would make myself available to them to "talk" and "welcome" me. No one knows me around here, so it could work for me...but it would be cool to see how many have runny noses!

Does any one want to do this? Any other idea's? We could make it a universal date and just keep talking about it till we do it to make sure everyone knows.

I would really like the opinion of those still going to the meetings for their families sake....I mean don't you think you may find someone else you already know and love having the same thoughts as you...maybe someone to go in "field service" with!?

The whole thing is the minute you give that tissue to the wrong person or someone who merely thinks they are being "tested" by the elders will run to the elders and you will be escorted out.

It's not a bad idea, but it won't work for those of us who have long hair, beards, piercings, or tattoos.

Also, I'd change the "white flag" every year.

Megsmamma You're not the first to think of wanting to create signals. But until the thing gets close enough to foolproof, most faders don't want to compromise their situation.

I think a set of exchanges could work. Something innocuous such as about weather, but with a word or phrase (not necessarily a loaded JWD term) that is a little unusual, such as "preternatural". Then, another question like, "Do you get your weather info off the weatherunderground online?" And a particular response like, "Yes, it's very good for almanac information, too."

From there, I suppose the next thing to do is come to the board and post a thread: Weatherunderground in CA (or whatever region one is at). See who responds to the thread. Decide if you want to reveal yourself by pm first.

You could still deny everything, I think, if you found a lurking elder instead of a fader/exJW. You could say you don't know whom he possibly contacted online on a board... but you do remember a simple conversation about weather the other day. That is all.

Two cents toward the idea, anyway!
