Interesting idea; I wonder how many Elderly sisters who always have a hanky will get the nod or a wink or raised eyebrows. LOL

Why not go and sit at the meeting reading 'Crisis of Conscience'? Any lurkers or 'faders' would know that signal for sure.

If any elders ask you about the book - just say you are an 'interested person' -and that interest includes comparison of lots of thoughts. If there are secret faders there, they will certainly notice and find a way to contact you. Keep a card ready with your email address/phone number at hand when speaking to others before and after the meeting.

I wish I could do that, Jeff. Not that I go to meetings anymore or that anyone would even know me. But how sweet would that be to sit in a meeting and KNOW someone is there for you.

The trouble with having a great idea like this in a public forum is that lurking Elders™ and Bethelites™ who come here with the intent to spy on people in their congregations (you know who you are!) would have no problem informing other Elders™ of a plan like this, and provide the date, the signal to watch for, etc. so that people who wish to participate would be outed in a heartbeat.

The whole reason I thought the tissue idea was good is because it is such a SUBTLE sign...not like everyone participating wearing red or something. It is very common to have a tissue, and like it was said...some older sisters might even get a raised eyebrow. The point would not be to OUT everyone real quick...it would be like mabe you regularly notice someone with a tissue and if an elder asks why you have a tissue, well you have a runny nose...what a weird question. Maybe it wouldn't work for someone like me to go to a meeting and do it, but maybe people still hiding in it could just start doing it to find out who is going through the same thing.

Another idea; if you are not known, you will get immediate notice when you are present. If you have a personal website, use that info on your intro card to those you speak with - then make sure your website has links to the sites you would like them to see.

If you spead the info around enough, and quickly, perhaps a true 'fader' would be among those you contacted, or perhaps you would help others unaware to start the process.

Don't think I could actually sit through another meeting....
