This disease is running rampant among Jehovah`s Witness`s..Theres not one that dosen`t have it.It seems to be contagious. My mom has it,my dad had it,my brother has it,all the Jehovah`s Witness`s I know have it..An incredible loss of memory,a mental deterioration that can happen instantly!..It has nothing to do with every day life memory loss, like "Alzhiemer`s"..It is loss of memory about thier own religion and only affects Jehovah`s Witness`s..It`s "Jozhiemer`s Disease"..Have you,or do you know anyone who has a loss of memory about their own religion because of "Jozhiemer`s Disease?"...OUTLAW

I personally think it is an "acceptable" way in the thinking of some individual JWs to avoid the burden of "works" the WTS puts on them.

Blondie..For the moment it is an easy way to deal with those burdens..The problem is,the mental anguish they go through when they are forced to remember.I have seen people go through some very painfull moments when they are forced to remember...OUTLAW

My jw's memory must work the opposite. Maybe because he is recent convert not raised in. It is so weird! His memory of our life before jw seems nearly gone sometimes. We all wonder how he functions at the meetings because his memory about us & kids is so bad!! But then he will sometimes let something slip about some kid at the hall which insults our kids terribly. How can he remember stuff about the kids at the hell but not his own kids? Easy, because he spends more time with his 'other' family.

Outlaw maybe I'm a little dense but I really don't get your post. Are you talking about ones who have been in a long time and now have the socalled new light or what.

Hambeak..It`s a joke to make a point..The point is,many Jehovah`s Witness`s don`t remember what they preached in years gone by..Both my mom and dad did not remember going from door to door with the Awake and Watchtower, that specificly had articles about 1975 in them. That memory loss was not just confined to them.Every Jehovah`s Witness I talked to,had the same memory loss about that period of preaching in thier life...OUTLAW

I think it would sound better as Jehozhiemers Disease.

I know that's coming, isn't that what being a jw is all about? It's the personal memory loss that has me befuddled! I haven't noticed other ubm's with the same problem so I don't know if I can just rack it up with being a dub or what?

Thanks Outlaw I guess I have some remnants of that as well. You are right I might call it selective memory
