Or she should have. I recall that the society doesn't consider them christmas bonuses but rather end of the year bonuses given to lower their tax liabilities. It's a conscience matter to accept a gift. Invitations to specified Christmas parties is different, unless it's the only time you can see your family together, same for Thanksgiving.
