DOES MONEY BUY HAPPINESS?

I think most of us were probably trained to believe that money can't buy happiness, but is that really true? I know I'd be a hell of a lot happier with more money....what about you? Of course, there are the big examples we all know of---people who had lots of money, fame, but they weren't happy. Like Elvis, Marilyn Munroe, Princess Diana, Michael Jackson......but these people also had A LOT of 'mental issues' stemming from a dysfunctional childhood.

If you won the lottery tomorrow, or if you found out a rich long lost relative just left you a bundle, would it make you happier? I just saw this link on the subject....very interesting:

Well, maybe the rich people were so busy buying bling and houses and hummers that they never get around to buying happiness. They are too distracted with other purchases. Just being sarcastic.

I've decided anybody who says money won't buy happiness doesn't know where to shop. If money won't buy happiness, it can sure make the reactive depressions shorter.

I've tried life without money and with, and I'll take "with" every time.

That is just a case of sour grapes, to make poor people feel better. Of course a person is happier w money. If i had lots, i could just do waht i enjoy, get the therapy i need, etc.

Ps, it can buy you love too. The way it does that, is by allowing a person to meet more people and do more things w them. Eventually, love is very likely to happen.

I wouldn't say that I'm any happier now than I was years ago, struggling. Just different issues have different levels of importance. It seems like people that are committed to being happy.... ARE happy... and people committed to being miserable... well... you know....

I like what Forrest Gump said... "We don't have to worry about money anymore...and that's good... it's one less thing"

Money may not buy you happiness but being broke sure seems to buy you a lot of misery.

It's all relative... Rolex's don't keep time any better than Timex's....
But Corazon tequila tastes a whole hell of alot better than Jose Cuervo!

Having money has provided much more happiness than destitution ever has. Or ever will.

It sure makes life alot easier.

If I had alot of money i would be very very happy.

I could take care of so many things and give things that I

want to my kids. I probably could relax some too.

Dolly Parton says that money won't buy you happiness, but you can sure look good while you are depressed.

Money can't buy you love according to The Beatles. I believe it can certainly improve life because you have more choices open to you. (As I finished this post. I went to slide my chair back. My stocking foot slipped and bashed into the computer tower under the desk. I knew it hurt to the extreme, so I took off my sock and low and behold, my toe was bleeding pretty badly. I broke my second toe nail all the way up the middle vertically. I must have sounded pretty distressed because my grandson Julian got up to help me take care of it. Ouch to the hundredth power.Bad enough to need a pain killer, but sadly I don't have any.)

I figure it is a case of applying the wrong remedy to the wrong problem.

Pencillin is a wonderful thing but it doesn't do much for diabetes.

I think people need to have enough money so they aren't always worrying about where they will sleep, or what they will wear, or what they will eat every day but there is something else, the feeling of being safe.

I can remember an experience about a boy who told his mother that his father was sexually abusing him. She told him to be grateful he lived in a nice house, had nice clothes and food to eat.

Money won't buy happiness, so let everyone enjoy their grief however they want!
