Official identification cards for the rank and file are a thing of the past. Whenever a brother has to visit the jail/prison to see a prisoner, thee are cards that the elder body will give them.
If individual JWs have identification cards, they are directed not to use a WT symbol or name on the card.
JWs have never worn badges to the doors except during door to door campaigns during a district convention and it would have been the lapel card for the convention.

I guess the jury's out huh? Actually I recall my friend saying that they had North American accents and that he thought they were missionaries of some sort. That should have given it away. I don't think there are many American JW missionaries in Australia! lol.

No, I think the jury is in and that JWs don't wear name badges/IDs from door to door, only Mormons or some sales group. Next time maybe your friend could ask them if they are JWs. BTW, if they're mormons, it will say that on the badge too in fairly large letters (LDS or Latter Day Saints)
