Welcome to the forum, Iknowall [belated, but better late than never!].

Thanks for that reference. While I've seen that illustration before, of course, what got my attention was that I just now looked it up in my mother's copy, per your post, and saw that she had circled the hand and put an "X" above it. Wish she were still here so we could discuss her point of view on the art. She was an artist.

wow ! thats amazing. She was obviously very alert. I've been through that book about 4 times at the tues. book study and never once noticed the subtle insertions in the artwork. I too like to paint.......dont know if I would call myself an artist though, but I did sell one of my paintings a month ago. Now that I know what's invovled in painting and producing a finished work, it does amaze me how the 'artists' for the WT are able to do this so well. They are clever indeed.

Nice topic!!! Well JW's they will see NOTHING at the picture. For me the first doubts regarding WT came when I found out about the "strange faces" in the Live for ever book...

It was in the early 90's, and we were a group of youngsters (6-7 persons)that we had a discussion about the matter. Well few days after an elder call us in the"room"and tell us that they found out what was our discussion about!!! He said with a loud voice that WT's puplications are absolutely ok and the rumors that they have demon faces!!! are words by the apostates!!!

Oh boy...I wish my awakening from the WT cult occured back in the early 90's. It would have save me from a lot of trouble and pain....

I don't know why they are there, those demon faces and Occult signs. For sure someone insert them. The fact is that WT denies that(like many other things) but they are undoubtly there. I try to see other books(non JW's)if they had similar faces and signs. Even old WT publications, prior 1982. I could find anything.

Is the WT involved into Occult? Russell, Woodworth, Booze Jo, Franz had their involvement. Is there any darkest secret behind the WT? I can tell, but sure something is hidding behind the curtains

There is no question that the Watchtower org. is involved with the occult. Carefully hidden demonic images appear throughout much of the Watchtower literature. Granted some of these images can be imagined by the viewer. However, other images are clearly visible to anyone reading their literature. This subject raises many eyebrows and many people feel uncomfortable when the subject comes up. Sometime in June or early July 2009 we have two experts who have studied this matter coming on the six screens of the Watchtower conference call who will be sharing with us a broad spectrum of theories on subliminal art in the Watchtower publications. One of these guests, Darek Barefoot, has even written a book on this subject called "Jehovah's Witnesses and the hour of darkness and he concludes that occultism was secretly being promoted inside the Watchtower Society. For more info. on this subject hit the following link. http://sixscreensofthewatchtower.com/3subliminalimages.html

Thank you, Iknow, Just and KAM, for your terrific replies. I read Derek Barefoot's book and am saddened at the grief that has come to him and his family because he dared to talk and write.

Please see the comments below from two professional artists:

AIR STREAM GRAPHIC DESIGN & ILLUSTRATION

[extracts from letter of 10 July 1990, addressed "To Whom It May Concern:"]

"Because of my extensive professional experience, Darek Barefoot recently asked me to review a number of illustrations [in WT, AWAKE!, REVELATION CLIMAX and LIVE FOREVER].

"It is my professional opinion that secondary images have been deliberately incorporated into many of the illustrations I have examined. The secondary images I have seen vary from symbolic shapes and letters of the alphabet to representations of faces and skulls, and deformities of certain extremities. These appear with enough consistency that in my opinion they are deliberate, not coincidental.

"As a professional illustrator and painter, I am very aware of the amount of time and concentration that goes into a painting or an illustration. Any artist doing a piece is acutely aware of every line and brush stroke. It is therefore exremely difficult for me to believe that many of these images, objects, and shapes were not purposefully embedded into these illustrations in question."

    James Waggaman

The letter, in part, below is addressed "To whom it may concern," 21 February 1992:

    [...]

"At first glance the illustrations [Watch Tower 'commercial art images depicting religious scenes'] I examined appeared quite normal, but after closer examination, it became apparent that there are many images and symbols integrated into the scenes. Upon further investigation of the illustrations, I noticed a consistent motif and repeatability of these same symbols in every illustration I studied. Some of the symbols and images are so obvious they interrupt the normal flow of lines, shape, and form of the artwork. It is quite apparent the illustrators would use highlights and shadows in the scenes to conceal the symbols in such a manner that they are not clearly distinguishable. However, armed with the knowledge that the symbols may be present, it becomes quite easy to distinguish and isolate these images from the given illustration.

"In conclusion, it is my professional opinion that these figures are present in the illustrations, not by coincidence, but by clear conscious efforts by the originators of the artwork."

    Sincerely,

Okay, CoCo, that letter from Michael Graves seriously boggles my mind!

As for the creepy grey hand, it is most absolutely obviously a hand, and a grotesque one, at that! Also, notice the angle at which it comes into the frame and grasps the scepter... skeletons don't bend that way. It is not part of the figure. It is something else.

I have to admit, I usually tend to dismiss these threads on "hidden images" in the WT illustrations, heaven knows the art is bad enough. This gray hand, though, is pretty blatent.

Can we have scans of these other illustrations in question? JustHuman is mentioning the Live Forever book?

Thanks, Baba. Please see newly reposted thread "The Cadillac of Nut Art." Purps kindly copied the letter by a Mr. Chan that I was unable to opy and paste ...

    Off to work - Bye!

    Very disturbing.

    This is what I see:

Because the blue claw hand is directly behind the King, it is showing that there is an evil power at work behind the throne.

In a 2-D work, the hand actually "touches" the King. Subliminally, this tells me that the King being directed and controlled.

The King's hand is deformed which shows he is in a pact or agreement with this demonic force.

The fact that the artwork is reviewed before release tells me that this is abberation is deliberate.

Conclusion? Perhaps there are apostates at a high level who are trapped and are trying to tell the observant ones in the only way they know how that there are satanic forces of men pushing the buttons behind WT.

The clay vessels breaking are a nice eupheumism for tortured and killed people. After all, isn't "he" the potter, and we the clay? religion has tried to make us fit a standard of uniformity. Anything that has a bubble of defect according to that standardization will be destroyed.

The iron rods could just as well be baseball bats and the annointed could just as well be redneck gangsters. They look very menacing.

That the King has a wooden rod again shows that the King is not really in charge; it is the gangster men with the iron rods who really have the power. The wooden rod shows the King as being an impotent figurehead.

This King cannot be Jesus as others have interpreted. Jesus never "ruled with an iron rod". That has never fit his character. It is this group of evil men who break the backs of others. Jesus said "my yoke is light". Jesus never enforced any rules with threat of a baseball bat on anyone's head.

Did anyone notice, too, the uniformity of the men behind the King?

They all have mustache, beards and dark hair. Every beard has the same shape. They all look alike.

This is very different from the images in WT magazines where they make such a deliberate conscious effort to show varied ethnicity.

    Dear cameo,

Thank you for your sharp analyses.

I have no response to your thought-provoking queries, but you have given us something to think about. Whether WT writers and artists are capable of such depths of deceit, being the real-life version of what we read in mystery novels, will one day be made clear. There will always be naysayers, even among the "ranks." Even statements by professional artists on these matters are pooh-poohed and disregarded. Beats me why.

    Your singular insights are appreciated.

    CoCo
