Oh yeah, forgot to address your question. Mouse/keyboard is my preference. WADS layout preferable.

I haven't even thought about developing another character QCMBR! It is addictive though so I may well do - howebver I am playing the long way round - ie doing every single min quest possible and exploring every inch of coast line before getting on with tackling the Daedra in Kvatch and finding the heir.

Mouse and keyboard would be fine - but laptops dont even have proper mouses/mice - just that little touch board - I;m not sure it will worj that well and I'm used to having a trigger to squeeze when firing...what is the fire button in your set up?

Strangely enough I broke two wireless mice on this game so I switched to a corded one and I played it on the laptop. I couldn't have played without a mouse!! I used the mouse as attack and defend and I did all the side quests first because the oblivion gates are a pain once they start popping up - they really restrict your movement. I bought several houses as they have some of the better side quests attached.

I've read about the oblivion Gates but only encountered one - I think. How do you mean they keep popping up - are you forced into them or something? The one I did had a Corpse Masher and had to rescue the lost souls of some worshippers of one of the Ayelid Momuments. But I enjoyed the change of scene.

I've got two houses - I picked my initial quests around where I fancied living - so I have a nice place in Cheydinhal and another in Skingrad. Is there any bonus to owning houses in all the towns?

Also I am totally stuck on the Chorrol quest to find who stole the painting of the Count - I've accused everyone in the castle and got no further and pretty much given up on this one!

Also hints on increasing my Mysticism would be appreciated - am sick of not being able to Summon Scamps when I want too because my mysticism isn;t high enough - there must be a quick solution to raising my skill surely?

I think for the painting quest go and look at the carpet in one of the upper rooms (I think its the one where the woman suspect is) this moves the quest on as you see paint on it (its down by the base of a table). For mysticism whenever you travel cast a low level mysticism spell repeatedly and you'll soon fly up through the levels. The houses only really benefit you in termsof ease of storing junk and the associated quests - don't forget you can go to a trader and beautify your home!

You are a star daystar! the FAQ's thing I had didnt have a complete walkthrough of Canvas teh Castle and this one does - I had already found the first two clues - I just hadnt found the third because I couldnt believe the beautiful Chanel would lie to me! WOMEN _ treacherous every time! hehe - thanks - can't wait to get home and do this bit as its been bugging me for weeks!

Thanks Qcmbr - my homes have been beautified to the hilt - did you invest in any of the shops/businesses when you played - havent got rich enough to do that (despite finding a handy glitch in the vampire quest where the count gives you unlimited money!)?

I think its probably that I have ignored the low level mysticism spells ion favour of the more powerful destruction and restoration ones so I should probably just go through the ones I have acquired and use them.

Another question as you seem to be an expert - what is best to see off a will o the wisp - anoying little balls of yellow sparkle - they are by far the most unkillable and depleting enemy I have encountered. Daedra's and wraiths are a breeze in comparison...

To destroy the whisp ready your fireball and backpedal. When it pops up in front of you welly it twice and then back up and repeat. They are a monumental pain in the a***. I never bothered investing in shops.

Get a mouse for your laptop. You won't regret it.

I really love Oblivion, but I've been trying to solve this irritating sound problem that sometimes makes the game unplayable with static and so forth. Anyway, the game is almost a little dangerous for me since its so immersive. I just bought my own house (lol) in Bruma and filled with crap except now I'm pissed because I can't light the fire. Ruined the whole thing for me!
