Did You Ever Think YOU Could Personally Make A Difference As A JW or ExJW?

    Hey Min----

'I can help only one person a day, today is not your day, and tomorrow isn't looking any better.' Words to that effect.

The Org had us in such a frenzy to get people rescued and on that "ark". I remember a quotation saying that what you (JW) say or do today on behalf of another could mean his eternal salvation. I simply had to reach as many people as possible, every moment available. I couldn't concentrate on anything else--bloodguilt! innocent lives lost! my fault! After six months total abstinence from the KH, I am detoxified. No more anxiety or niggling guilt. My ministry is here. I'm in training as a spiritual paramedic because there will be casualties aplenty among our beloved JW family and friends. Triage units set up everywhere, requiring the likes of us to aid in the recovery. A friend said he never saw me this fired up about THE TRUTH. My depression and self-absorption have evaporated. YOU have all made a difference to me. So let's get to work!

    As a JW

No I don't think so. Because I could wrap my mind around some of their teachings I thought I must be stupid. I could never imagine myself bringing anyone into the "truth". This was an unconcious belief that only surfaced a couple of times in my 22 as a believer Although I know I did make a huge difference to some in the deaf group that was in our hall. Not so much for the interpreting in the hall but more for what I did for them outside the hall (doctor's visits, legal appointments etc.)

After I left the JWs I went to college and learned about counseling people. The focus of my attention was almost exclusively on childhood incest. Through my website (in my profile) many people have contacted me to let me know what I have posted there has helped them to deal with the abuse in their childhoods Once I realized how the WTS uses mind control techniques on their members and those studying I have found a way here to make a difference. So as an xJW I know I have made a difference or at least that is what people keep telling me

LL, you clearly have made a difference, esp. with your work here, on this board.
