I don't know if I set a record, but after 2 years and 2 months, finally the blood doctor will see me......lol

This all started back 2 years and 2 months ago, when my family doctor noticed that I had too much iron in me. So, he gave me a paper to go see a blood specialist.

So, after 1 year I phoned and they said it could take up to 2 years, and they told me to wait. so today, I decided to phone the blood specialist's secretary again, and told her about my waiting for so long, so she told me she would phone me back, and when she did, she gave me an appointment for Friday.

She said, after all that time, you deserve an appointment....

Gee, If I wouldn't have phoned, they never would have phoned me.

wow that is a long time. I had to wait 6months to see a dermatologist about a horrible skin rash...by the time i saw them it was even worse!

When my family doctor discovered a polyp in my colon he gave me the news with a look of dread on his face. Considering his demeanor, which was out of character, I expected the worst. He arranged an appointment for me to see a specialist. Five months later I saw the specialist for about 5 minutes. He scheduled a colonoscopy for me, and I had another 2 month wait. 2 weeks after the colonoscopy I saw him for the results, and the polyp was benign. It was a relief to get the results after 7 1/2 months of worry.

Don't you just love Canadian health care?

An example of the down side of Canadian health care.

I have an HMO (Health Maintenace Organization). The doctors try to squeeze me in as soon as possible if it is urgent, usually someone who cancels without much warning. Otherwise, if not an emergency, about a week.

I thought you meant waiting in the reception area; there if you wait 20 minutes, you must tell the receptionist and they determine what the holdup is and how far behind they are running.

Never had much of a wait either in ER, especially when hubbie went in with his heart attack...#1 in line.

Oh no, here you can expect to see the doctor hours after the appointment time. If they say you have an appointment at 9am, you might see the doctor at 11....lol

And I hear so many stories of people catching viruses or infections when they enter our hospitals.
