So I went to the doctor yesterday for my exit counselling and some other things.

We talked about the religion, this is my first visit with her. She said there is another good and loving god .....not that cruel one. And she knew about the shunning that the witnesses do.

So this is the second doc within a weeks time, that seems to have a bit of background knowledge on the witness religion.

I wondered how many witnesses have needed counselling???? and if it is a known thing among doctors how the religion is.

What do you think, have you experianced docs familiar with JWism?

I've spoken with a therapist and specifically delved into the whole shunning thing so she would be very aware if speaking to a witness.

Purps - exit counselling for a job? And it requires a doc visit? Curious -

I think many docs might be aware of Jw's - they prob get a lot of interest due to the blood issues.

yikes.........sorry, I am going to get some help leaving the JW religion. I wish I was exiting my job.

Although I think this board is the best therapy there is.

they are usually aware fo the JWs. Some of positive feelings about them, and some do not..

when I saw one therapist who told me I needed to find another religion because this one was only causing me stress and giving me no support.. I stopped seeing her..

others I saw thought they were a supportive group to each other.

I think the thing is.. when I was a dub, even if I wanted to complain about pressure from the elders, etc.. in the back of my mind I always felt like they wouldn't understand, so I needed to make sure I still gave a good witness to Jehovah's name.. so I tried to speak only posively about them..

wow sassy I know exactly what you mean. no matter what was going on in my life, I always thought of not saying or doing anything to bring reproach.

    We were above all that.

I seen a Christian psychotherapist and I had no idea she was a Christian. She actually did cult exit counseling with me but I did not realize it until later.

She was really good. She was instrumental in my freedom from the WT.

Purps, I went into extensive counseling.

Where I did go actually reinacted my JC Meeting which was horrific, but also very healing. That was about 1990. Most people there were horrified, and I believe it was very eye opening to any people there to the JW's including the Therapists.

Hopefully everybody remembered it for future "cases" such as myself.
