have a cousin who had 2 kids who are autistic or have autistic tendencies. I remember her mother saying that all my cousin's kids needed was a good butt whoopin to straighten them out. I'm glad for once my cousin didn't listen to her mom. Oh by the way they're jws.

To my knowledge, autistic children don't "take hold" of discipline as they just don't have the mental capacity to get it.

This little 5 yr. old I was telling you about is sent to his room for time outs all of the time. Then they let him back out and in no time he acts out and is back in a time out. He has a horrible time in groups. Won't look you in the eye. Just got semi potty trained and his language skills are less than my 3 1/2 yr. old granddaughter.

Poor kid! I wonder why they don't get him evaluated?

Thank you for sharing this with us Josie!

Your one terrific Mother and Joshua ( I've ALWAYS loved that name ) is one fortunate young man. my Children and Grandchildren are my world so these posts brighten my day.

Just the other night he said to me "I love you"!

That comment alone brought tears to my eyes as hearing this from our little ones means everything!

The one of the best parts of being a mother are the hugs and kisses. I have a song that I sang to my children when they were babies (any age under 5 lol) it goes like this:

    I love you Joshua

    Oh yes I do

    I love you Joshua

    and I'll be true

    When you're not near me

    I'm blue

    Oh Joshua I love you.

Joshua loves that song, as did my other children, and I didn't sing that song to him that day but I said slowly "I love you" and he said it back to me in a sweet whisper and gave me this look of adoration and total love.

    Life is good.

Kids are such a blessing. Joshua sounds absolutely adorable!

When my son was in about 5th grade, he had to write an essay at school about his most precious possession. He wrote that his most precious possession was his Mom.

I found the essay and have saved it. He never showed it to me.... I still get all teary-eyed when I think about it!
