We stayed on a floor not included by the society at a hotel once. It was a special luxary floor with extra ammenities not offered elsewhere. The reason we did this was because the hotel was connected to the convention center and we had a disabled person staying with us. It was much easier on him to be able to return to his room when he needed to. We would have stayed on the floors designated by the society, but they were full by the time we were given the list at the service meeting. Someone, actually a lot of elders were not waiting to book a room until the list was released. All the best rooms were always already full. Such self-sacrificing brothers!
You would not believe the looks of disgust we received from the other witnesses staying at the same hotel. They didn't care about the disabled brothers needs. And they even stated that they would have liked to stay on that floor with the extra ammenities, but they were being faithful to the society. It always bothered me that there was no provisions for rooms to be set aside for disabled and elderly ones that were the most convenient for their needs. Maybe their free rooms could be used to help the poor too, instead of the Bethel elders and POs and DOs.
