I wonder how they would react if there was evidence later found that would trace the crime back to the criminal the BOE was harbouring. There is no statue of limitations for murder and if the person was indicted, charged, tried and convicted of the crime and it was found out that the WTS knew all along that this individual actually committed the crime, it would be interesting how they would spin that situation.

If I'm not mistaken, I think they will be covered by "preachers" obligation not to give out information. Isn't that the way with the Catholic religions? Sort of like patient/client, clergy/believer privileges?

So, we'll overlook a serial murder history but we want you elders to check to see if this brother has a membership in the YMCA. Hahahaha!!!! Because that would be serious sin! Hahaha!!!!!

Is there ANYWAY that I can prove the society did infact send this?

FF - you might be able to email Bill on SL and see if he has any ideas on that. He may in fact know the origin precisely. Worth a try.

I am no help on proving it, but I have this thought.
It would do no good to prove anything about this letter to the average JW.
They would say there is not enough information to get the complete picture.
They would totally miss the point as stated in the thread title.

I have a pretty good knack for spotting the ring of truth in things.
The letter from WTS definitely has the ring of truth to it, IMO.

This is going to disturb me, and I won't be able to use it in anyway.

What really desturbs me is that the person committed several murders as well as other crimes, so in effect he is a serial murderer! And yet the WTBTS is telling the elders to keep thier mouth shut, this shows a gross lack of concern for the safety of possible future victims, and a very lopsided sense of what is right and wrong, which is rather natural when ones god is the murderous Jehovah, who has persons put to death for the slightest trivialities.

I should add that, depending on the circumstances of the case, I don't necessarily think that the elders should turn the guy in. If the murders were, e.g. part of a gang lifestyle that he has completely left behind, and there's no real likelihood of him going back to it, then there's not really any benefit to society from locking him up.

What's ridiculous is the Watchtower's attitude that any actions prior to becoming a Witness get a free pass, but once you're dunked, every little transgression needs to be scrutinized. Apparently Jehovah's love and forgiveness are boundless... until you actually start worshiping him.

So, Euphemism, certain murders should just be 'allowed' if they are 'gang related' and such. That is flat out bullshit!

Tell that to the Mother's and Father's and Brothers and Sisters of the person who was murdered. Give me a flippin' break.
