even if they WERE NOT making it up, it makes the JWs look like jerks. Cancellng a child? And then figuring they would 'see if it worked out' and 'didn't interphere with their pioneering'????No way does that story make anything about it look good. Poor kid, taken on sufferance and on approval.

This has to be a JW urban legend. I remember hearing the same story about 30 years ago except it was a little girl.

Just wanted to add this one for your reading pleasure. Just came over the "Wit-net."

    Enjoy,

Encouraging experience. Keep Preaching Some times we feel we can't continue and our service to Jehovah is going nowhere, but this experience shows we need to keep preaching...

A sister in London, England, who had been confined to a wheelchair before she learned the Truth, had been witnessing by writing one letter everyday for 10 years and had never received a response to any of her letters. When the CO visited her congregation, she asked to speak to him. She told him, "I am going to quit writing letters. No one has ever replied. Jehovah doesn't want me. I give up" The CO told her, "You can't do that. Remember that day you got baptized, you said that you were willing to do anything for Jehovah. You don't know what good your letters have done. You can't quit. Jehovah is not finished with you yet. You can't give up".

Our sister went away a little disgruntled. She had a favorite radio program that she listened to each week. The week following the discussion with the Circuit Overseer, she turned on the program. The announcer began to explain that he had been away because his mother had died suddenly and he was still very upset but he needed to get back to his work. Our sister began to think about what the CO had said and decided to write one more letter. In her letter she told the announcer how much she had enjoyed his program and then began to witness to him about the resurrection hope.

The next week when she turned on the program, the announcer started to thank all the people for the consoling letters he had received during the week. He said "But one letter really touched my heart, and I would like to read it to you". He then read the sisters' letter on the air. She was so happy and began to think again about what the Circuit Overseer had told her, that Jehovah was not finished with her yet. She immediately began to write another letter explaining the paradise hope.

The next week while she was eating lunch she heard a knock at the door. When she opened the door a man was standing there and he said, "I know you don't know my face but close your eyes, maybe you will recognize my voice. I just had to meet the person who wrote me those beautiful letters. Also I wanted to tell you that I really want to see my mother again, So I need to learn more. I wanted to know if I came to visit you once a week would you be willing to teach me more about the paradise earth?" Our sister again with tears in her eyes recalled the words of, "Jehovah is not finished with you yet". So the man and his wife came to the sisters flat and before long accepted the Truth and were baptized.

Then one day his whole family came to see her and said, "We have had a family conference and we would like to ask you a question. You have done so much for us that we would like to do something for you. We know we will see mum in the resurrection, but we would like you to be our mum until then. Will you come live with us so we can take care of you?" The sister, with constant running tears in her eyes, accepted their offer and again recalled the Circuit Overseers words, "Jehovah is not finished with you yet." What a joy and blessings this sister received because she kept on "Declaring the Good News without Letup"! __________________________________________________

    Wow LG,

I heard that experience in the mid to late 1970's here in the Pittsburgh area. I knew the "sister" who told this and also knew her husband. She claimed that friends of hers in another state personally knew this couple who adopted this Vietmamese boy.

Of course, back then we all thought it was WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm surprised this and other stories of "miraculous" intervention are still going around.

Today however, I think it is just more JW BS.

Boy oh boy they really know how to tug on the old heart strings...how about this...

Once there was a young couple, very much in love. They were NOT Jehovahs Witnesses but were good people who wished nobody harm. This lovely pair longed for a child to love and cherish and finally their dream came true...a sweet baby girl, but just as they were about to embark on their wonderful new life... all three got their heads smashed in by blazing rocks falling from the sky courtesy of the great Watchtower god.

Take away all the pretty pictures and crafty words, isn't this what they're preaching? Makes me sick!
